Wonderful canal trip

Had a wonderful trip with excellent commentary. So much to learn about how the canals were used and the benefits people derived from them. A trip certainly not to be missed.

I did an express sightseeing trip of Birmingham and found it more impressive than Liverpool, albeit not a stitch on London. Staring my walk from The Cube, it was a really nice stroll down the canals. Picturesque, tranquil and somewhat strange to see in such a big city... and it was also interesting to note that there are more canals... More

Just meandering amongst the city streets and canels of Birmingham and we 'stumbled' upon the Gas Street Basin, brilliant! There were plenty of barrow boats in the basin with much activity making for interesting viewing, whilst supping local beers in the historical Canelside public house! This area is a 'must see' if you have some leisure time during any time... More

The gas st basin is a reminder of the past. The moored canal boats and the canal architecture take you back in time. There are a number of restaurants on the way there as well as bars.

Fascinating if you are interested in industrial history. A nice place for a city centre walk. Many canal boats are resident here, a good place for people watching surrounded by bars and restaurants
