A fascinating structure, testefully restored with the staircase and lift set into a recess on the outside of the building - shame about the contents - on the occasion that we visited, it seemed full of pretentious twaddle - a pair of shoes and socks...More

The Ikon Gallery is sited near the popular canal centre and is free to enter. The exhibitions on show are brilliantly displayed on upper floors, with the ground floor used for the shop and a cafe. There is a lift for easy access if required,...More

Love this little gallery. Great exhibitions and cool artwork. Staff are knowledgeable and super friendly. Went twice in a weekend as I loved the artwork and the atmosphere. Had breakfast in the cafe which was really tasty and reasonably priced.

Cleverly adapted from a school, with brick and glass combining old and modern. We enjoyed the exhibitions, the staff were helpful and friendly, the shop great for present ideas. Finished with deliciously moist carrot cake and tea in York’s Ikon café. We’ll happily return for...More

I always visit the gallery when I am in Birmingham. There's no permanent collection but temporary exhibitions are always interesting. The cafe is nice and there're many restaurants in the area. It's free and I recommend it.
