If you have visited for food, this page is just for Night Life so please go to The Golden Cross to leave a review :) Come and visit the oldest pub in Coventry, built c.1583 and a pub from c.1661. The interior features exposed oak beams, and was said to have been restored with timber from St Michael's bell tower, when the pub was restored in the nineteenth century. The exterior is in the typical Tudor style in black and white, with jettied upper floors. The pub also features a dragon beam, which is a large piece of timber, which enabled the jettied upper floor to pass around a corner. The pub sits close to the old cathedral that was bombed in the war, and amazingly remained unscathed in the attacks! So come visit and little piece of Coventry's history that has remained on the same spot for over 400 years!

Good live music, friendly staff, friendly guests, beautiful atmosphere. All you could wish for! Were here with a client, had beers (perfect options for everyone), were kindly "kicked out" at 12 (Germans, we're not used to that;)), had a great time though! Will definitely be...More

We stopped in here for lunch yesterday after visiting the Cathedral as its right next door. One of the oldest surviving buildings left in Coventry after WW2. Nice atmosphere and good selection of food and good service.

Made us feel really welcome, sat in the beer garden and had social pint. Very convivial, not a bad way to spend Tuesday afternoon.

Had a great night here with friends largely because of the great atmosphere and music created by the band on the Tuesday night called the Flat Badger. The place had a great vibe with the dancing and singing. Thanks for an impromptu unexpected evening (...More

This pub has been around for centuries and you can definitely tell the minute you walk in. Cosy rooms and low ceilings render this difficult for the tall traveller. Standard service, prices ok. Amenities clean and modern.

Had a meal here with friends. Lovely interesting building that has been decorated and laid out well inside (we did not see upstairs, so can't comment on this). Quite a long wait for drinks and to find out where our reserved table was as the...More

Just a quick follow-up to my review last year where I challenged a couple of points about staff knowledge and ambience . I'm pleased to say this time we found the bar staff really on the ball and a great selection of beers and wines...More

I looked where I could eat with a friend in the Cathedral Quarter and saw on here that the reviews for the Golden Cross, which has been transformed and prettified recently, were very good. They were also true as we got very attentive service and...More
