    Authentic market
Great market, been modernised since I last went, however, still very good, fish market just like being in a harbour. Meat stalls, great, all reasonable priced. The kitchen section was just unbelievable, there was Turkish, Afghani, Kurdish, English, West Indian, Vietnamese, Chinese, whatever food you like there was something for everyone. Buy the food then sit down to eat, plenty tables and chairs. then outside at the bottom, open air market, 2nd hand stalls, fruit and vegetables at the bottom and left hand side, again something for everyone.

    Lots of choice
Visited here after walking into town with my boyfriend. There were lots of edgy, alternative types here - very cool people! I'm not sure I quite fit in but I enjoyed my experience here all the same. I opted to buy some sweet and sour chicken and fried rice from Chop Chop, but there were so many other choices! I'd love to come back here and try something different.

Love the old part of the market
This was another surprise for us. It's huge building and we felt in love with the old part of it. Original stalls, wonderful decoration under the balcony, clock in the middle - you need to visit it. We were there to see it, not to buy but there is anything and everything (probably more in the newer part). Don't miss it when in Leeds.

    Kirkgate Market August 24
Been visiting Leeds Kirkgate Market for many with my now late partner. This year went solo The market is a shadow of its former self, lots of empty space and not as many traders. Mainly food outlets , used to get some bargains but none now. On the whole disappointed with its decline.

I visited here, against my better judgement, to see if I could get some local winter veg in better quality than the mass of supermarket, plastic covered rubbish that’s been flown half way around the world. I was sorely disappointed. It is dirty, run down, quite hostile and not even remotely cheap or value for money. You don’t feel safe at all walking around here. The atmosphere is very unwelcoming and it smells awful.

Leeds market was famous back in the day and having moved to Leeds 3 years ago, I thought I would be a regular shopper at this market. Walking around today, the vendors are either despondent and miserable, or genuinely quite unfriendly and hostile. The prices are not even remotely competitive and the produce (particularly the fruit&veg) is not decent quality at all. Surely somewhere this well known and previously so iconic should be heaving with customers and selling the best quality goods?

The only stall that had anyone on it that didn’t look like they are about take your money and run, was the plant stall near the one entrance off vicar lane. I got some really nice plants from there and he told me in detail how to look after them and which ones were suitable for my pets. Other than that, a very disappointing experience and I won’t be returning.

Word of advice: keep hold of your purse tightly. It’s not a very nice atmosphere nor will you feel comfortable or safe.

Drove in to Leeds to go to the market as we wanted some fish. Great choice of fish stalls in the market and also butchers and fruit stalls. The only down side whuch has put us off going is the cost of parking. It was £3.50 for 1 hour in the NCP car park near the market. It certainly does not encourage people to go charging such extortionate parking fees. I feel sorry for the stall holders who must see a loss if trade due to the parking costs.

Excellent local market with a wide range of good and wear. Good range of fresh produce always on offer. Towards the back good range and variety of food outlets where your able to sit and eat… people watching. Through the month a number of more specialist markets set up for those more specialist items of interest.

This is a great part of town in a beautiful building. I would have given 5 stars but it wasn't as covid secure as it could have been. Uncovered food items, particularly sweets and a fair amount of people walking past each other but most wearing masks.
Really love the indoor market, the smells of different cuisines and the buzz of a traditional market place, very affordable and a great selection of products. Perfect place to spend some time on a rainy day! At the back of the market is the more modern, some may say gentrified, section. There are a fair amount of food stalls here and designated seating areas, the options are great. Particular shout out to the coffee stand, didn't catch the name but they sell the most amazing Cortados and the service was great! Outside market offers a wealth of good quality fruit and veg and there is a lovely atmosphere. Excited to come back when the world feels a little safer again.

Visited this lovely market with my three sisters. We enjoyed fresh oysters and the most delicious dressed crab at Hayes Seafood - delightful staff and so atmospheric.
We took home fresh fruit, newly baked bread and the best baklava We had ever tasted from the Istanbul street food - very good value and excellent quality.
It was a lovely friendly environment.

In line with most markets this one has lost a lot of its former appeal. Still a few decent shops but nothing like the variety it once had. It's got some nice fruit and veggie stalls but the meat section is now just about gone. I suppose a lot of people just don't go into Leeds city centre now since the council started its vendetta against motorists...

This is a great little market. Unfortunately, it is declining but I imagine that's due to Leeds council not supporting the traders. Went in one afternoon and got some fresh fruit and veg. I Was also nicely surprised by the Zero waste shops and a few clothes stalls offering some nice items and keeping up with the current trends. The street food stalls are much better than the ones in Trinity. I would definitely recommend this market and wpuld urge everyone to go and support the independent businesses

Visited briefly as part of an English Heritage tour of Old Leeds. The structure itself is very impressive and the stalls mostly a delight with little "tat". Husband happy to be reminded of his student days in Leeds 50 years ago when shopping here was a must. Ate a wonderful street food veggie Thali for lunch. Other stalls sell different types of food in the food hall -seating available.
You need more time than our group had to do the place justice, but a guide is very useful to point out certain details.

The market hall is a very impressive Victorian structure in the centre of Leeds. It is full of character and there are some very interesting stalls, we always enjoy a visit when we are in Leeds. On this occasion our visit was slightly marred by the renovation work that was happening. Hopefully it will be completed soon and the facility will be even better than it previously was.

The indoor Kirkgate Market is logically next to the outdoor market. It sells everything!

The part of Kirkgate nearest to the outdoor market has an amazing food court with stalls selling food from every corner of the planet. It has the best of both worlds - cheap because they are stalls but masses of tables & chairs about so you can eat like in a restaurant.

The part furthest from the outdoor market is the oldest, with amazing Victorian architecture.
