We visited here for the first time the other week as they had a Steampunk fair there too. Can't believe have never been there before. Its a small venue but nice. There are things to see in a small museum type place - that's where the steampunk fair stalls were. There is a nice small cafe - more tea and... More

A short trip into history, take a ride on the first railway established by Act of Parliament. One of the first preserved steam railways features Steam Train rides, A museum and Snack Bar and Woodland Walks in the nearby Middleton Woods and observe early Coal mining method of Bell Pits

We arrived for a Diesel Special Day. The weather was raining, still it's UK Summer. I noticed a steam engine, smoking away, but it was in an area 'closed to the public' A member of staff noticed my daughter and I,and asked if we'd like a closer look, what a nice bloke !. Of course we took him up on his offer and took... More

I have previously reviewed The Middleton Railway, but my recent visit compels me to write again - after driving a steam engine! For a mere five pounds sterling I was allowed to drive the Leeds built 0-6-0 saddletank Sir Berkeley, a Victorian locomotive of 19 tons. The driver and fireman gave a brief and simple instruction on it's operation, guiding... More

Went with my sister and her grandson and had a wonderful 3 hours in the museum and in the train ride. Definitely somewhere I'd go again. Something for all age groups.

This is a small heritage railway with a small collection of locomotives the staff were friendly and they have a small tea room . We had a ride on a train up and down the line a couple of times and even tho it was a small place it made a change

For a fiver I had a return trip , an informative mining heritage walk around Middleton Park and picked up some real bargains in the shop ,a model loco, couple of video's and dvd's. . All the staff were really friendly too. It is a shame the line cannot be extended a bit further into Middleton but I guess that... More
