The building itself is worth seeing and there are regular tours to point out the special features. The library is housed in the same building as the art gallery (closed for work on the roof in 2016, to reopen in 2017 some time). Even without being able to explore the art gallery half of it, it is incredibly beautiful inside.... More

The reading materials are massive, plenty of books and collections. The stairs, walls and mosaic are just classic. There are discussion and computer rooms available. There is a cafe downstairs and the ceiling is just amazing. Love the interior and design. Great place to hang out, write an assignment or just reading. Its free to enter and its located in... More

The Art Gallery was closed so we decided to wander around the Library as part of a day out in Leeds looking at the architecture and monuments of the city. The library is beautiful inside with ornate tiling on floors and walls at all levels as you go up the stairs as well as interior stone arches giving an almost... More

I do love my local library and its staff but having to visit the Leeds Central Llibrary for a meeting recently one forgets how impressive this Library and building is. If you work in Leeds it's madness not to use its many and varied sections. Living out of town do remember you can, as a member use and borrow from... More

We were really impressed with the building - superb interior decoration and interesting embroideries. Also an excellent collection of art books - a large room dedicated to art and very helpful staff in the local studies room.

I love this wonderful old building, the architecture is amazing, it has wheelchair access by way of a lift and the archives department is good, with helpful staff. There is usually something going on for the kids in the school holidays. The city bus stops opposite because parking is a nightmare. I go bytrain and then city bus. In the... More

Formerly the Reading Room of the original Town Hall, this is now the Tea rooms for the Library. The room is magnificent and retains the original tiled ceiling and walls from when it was first opened as part of the Municipal Town Hall. The Rocky Road cake was delicious and the staff went to great efforts to guide me to... More
