Best 9 Hole Course in Yorkshire
Oct. 2020
My friend and I play this course twice a week, we only began playing this year, he 59 me 68. During this formative year we have played 6 other 9 hole courses and NONE match The Village for scenery, ease of forgiving fairways, the challenging course and the cafe , which has such charm you could be forgiven for thinking you were in some south of France tea room overlooking the Mediterranean. For £10 for 9 holes the round its a steal, no waiting just pay and go, why its not overused is the best hidden secret of Yorkshire. Oh, and the wildlife from Deer, Rabbits, Foxes and the massive birds called Kites, is in itself a thoroughly enjoyable 3 hours.

Friendly Golf

Great for all golfers, relaxed, no booking just pay and play. Good to take the kids to get them started.

Family run and they welcome all. Very cheap for a good course

Best 9 holes in Leeds
Jan. 2017 • Friends
Play here all the time. It's short but challenging and a great course for high handicappers like me. You can usually get around the course in a couple of hours as a 4 ball and I do it in just over an hour on my own. It's a beautiful part of the country and the course is well looked after. The little cafe is great and this time of the year the wood burner is always on and you can get a nice cuppa and bacon butty. At about £10 a round it's great value.

A good value pay and play
The course offers a short nine holes with an option of an extra three which feel ok but aren't really good enough to include as part of the main course

The main course is short, and enjoyable. There are 6 par 4 holes 5 of which are reachable with a driver, fairway wood or in two cases a mid iron (6/7). This makes the course quite interesting because it's a tempting proposition to go for the short par 4 holes (and the very reachable par 5). If you're long game is on form you could score low, but there would be rewards too for leaving the driver in the car and playing sensible too!

The extra three holes are a bit of a mess about, because they have small pitch and putt style greens. The third one plays on to the 7th green and is potentially one of the hardest par 3 holes I've ever played ( from the back tee!) It's about 190yds onto an elevated green over a wooded ravine. Almost impossible to get the elevation to stop the ball on the green!

In summary, this course will never host the Ryder Cup but it is a good place for beginners, juniors, seniors and those looking for a game that isn't mega serious! Enjoyed it!

Soggy but worth it
Nov. 2013 • Family
Took number 1 daughter for 9 holes and enjoyed the hour of so.
The course was soggy and greens very soft under food but great fun for a relative beginner and good for me to fine tune short game.
Didn't have the time to fit in the other four holes, but will next time.

Just Love This Course
Oct. 2012 • Friends
Until recently I played here every Tuesday with friends (out injured at the moment, but missing it like mad). The course is very scenic and a short course, but don't be fooled, there are some challenges to be had on several of the holes. The course is well maintained and open all year round (except for snow of course) and I think it sits in it's own little micro climate, because we never seemed to be hit with adverse weather conditions. There is a small cafe/snack bar where you can enjoy a cooked breakfast or sandwich either half way through your 18 holes or when you finish. It's Pay and Play and has concessions for seniors. Well worth visiting if you've not been before, It is owned by the same people who own the Brandon at Shadwell.
