Step back in time and wander through the enchanting streets, shops and houses and experience life as a Victorian. As a fun, family-friendly and interactive museum, Abbey House Museum is a great day out for all the family. Come to one of our many family sessions as advertised on our website or pop in with friends for a trip down memory lane.On the ground floor visit Stephen Harding Gate, the 19th century equivalent of a modern high street, for some old fashioned retail therapy. In the back streets, see the home of the window washer woman or pop into the Sunday-School. On the first floor, see our Childhood and Community Galleries along with the changing programme of exhibitions. Abbey House Museum is situated directly across the road from the historical site of Kirkstall Abbey, set in wonderful parkland along the banks of the River Aire.

Really enjoyed visiting Abbey House Museum, it was full of interesting things and the Victorian street was brilliant. Loved the "Fairy Tales" collection upstairs and all of the old toys (excluding the creepy Victorian dolls!) It's only £4.50 for adults which I think is excellent...More

The old fashioned street with all the old shops looks great and shows how far we have moved on or not from Victorian days. It has changed layout since last I was there, but it's still great to look at and go into the shops...More

We thought this would be a minor addition to a visit to Kirkstall Abbey but in fact there's lots to see and you can wander round quite freely. Only disappointment was limited hours for the cafe.

It was interesting seeing what the life has been like in those times but the museum is not very big therefore I would say it's a bit overpriced. However the place it's worth it to be seen.

Our party comprised of 4 adults a teenager and a 6 year old. The museum was fantastic and catered for every age. The dress up costumes were a big hit especially with the adults.

Family-friendly site opening a window onto 19th-century life in Leeds with shops, houses and an inn and with the Abbey over the road, you can make a day of it and take a picnic.

Kids were moaning not another museum, and they all thoroughly enjoyed this afternoon. Victorian shops and streets to look at, old fashioned slot machines with pennys you can purchase, a great afternoon. Would recommend for all ages.

I'm afraid only assistance dogs are allowed in the museum. Sorry! Would have loved to see her in her hat and dress!
