Visited when no activities in situ. A broad empty square beside the hospital, some civic buildings, restaurants and bars. Can see it will be a useful civic amenity for markets, ice rinks and so on. My memory from some years ago was that it limited the size of the Christmas market to its detriment. There is a large outdoor screen.... More

It's flanked by the Town Hall and the Leeds Museum and is also close to the Leeds College of Art and a local theater. Plus, there's a small selection of bars and restaurants nearby, although usually there's so much going on. Unsurprisingly, the square was opened in 2000 to mark the Millenium. In 2001 Nelson Mandela visited to open the... More

On a bitterly cold and damp January evening in the city to stumble across the bright lights and noises of a funfair in the square was warming. Not too many using it on such a horrid night but it gave life to the city

I took two teens here before Christmas as an alternative to Yorks which is very claustrophobic. Had a drink in Thors - Mulled wine and hot chocolate for the kids. Thors isn't actually sited in the market though and initially I thought that was it since I've never been before. A quick Google showed me I needed to walk a... More

Very disappointed with the German Market this year. The layout has changed and it feels very small. For such a large city I don't understand why the put it in that small square. Surely it would be better down the Main Street in Leeds for more space and more stalls? There was less there this year than last. Seems to... More

We decided to visit the German market as we were driving past and I'm so glad we did! We went to one in York last week but this one was so much better! The little stalls sold lovely trinkets and gift ideas. There were plenty of little stalls to get food/sweets etc... there were a few rides too for the... More

Very poor market given the publicity. Mostly food and drink stalls with very little in the way of crafts. Head for York if you want a good Xmas market.

Location: Market surrounded by fencing and security. Organised set up and stalls well put together. Things to get / do Funfair Eating & Drinking Sweets Small gifts Overall: It's much smaller than expected, if you want to grab a bite to eat or drink this is the place for you, if you're expecting to purchase Christmas gifts for loved ones... Millennium Square is used for several events throughout the year. We have been for Slamdunk festival which is good, but space is wasted with merchandise stores in the main area. Recently visited for the Christmas markets which were shockingly bad. Minimal stalls, expensive food and drinks.
