A gem of a pub
Dec. 2019
In my humble opinion, this pub has to be the best example of a Victorian Pub, in the UK, it's wonderful, glazed brickwork & tiles, huge cut glass mirrors, fine selection of Real ales, reasonable menu. It even has brass elephants holding up the brass bar rail!!It really is a gem of a pub.

Great old fashioned pub
Dec. 2019 • Friends
Started our two couple pub crawl here and amazingly found a spare table to sit down and enjoy our beers. Quick service including changeover of the Tetleys cask.
If you’ve not been it’s worth a trip even when Leeds playing at home!

Great pub appalling food
Oct. 2018 • Friends
We come to this pub on a regular basis and love the decor, ambience nice staff etc, however the food badly lets it down! Spent £35 on nibbles eg flat breads, twice cooked chips, onion rings etc, it arrived fairly quickly but what a disappointment! Flatbreads were small and barely cooked, chips in tiny ramekins so no more than 10 chips in each portion, garlic flatbread still frozen! We should with hindsight returned the lot but the pub was heaving and we didn’t really want to reorder. This is not the first time the food has been a big let down so won’t be ordering food again!

good pub

the decor in this place is what a pub should look like truly traditional with many great features we found the staff a bit on the quiet side but just ok one tip if you are drinking wine it is much better value to buy a bottle rather than a glass although lacking atmosphere the place is worth a visit

First time at this pub
Nov. 2016 • Couples
Called in here for lunch while in town shopping. We got to the pub at noon & ordered the meat pie, none available & it's only 12: o'clock. Our friends had hunters chicken, hubby had chicken pie & I had honey glazed chicken. Friends ate all their meals, hubby ate his but not his favourite, I didn't like mine. The chips were supposed to be treble cooked, came looking pasty, so not home made treble cooked chips more like bought in frozen. My dish was chicken wing & thigh I think, all bones, hardly any chicken on, a bit of slaw & something else in a small dish, not sure what it was I left it. In fact left most of the chicken, no veg with this dish so not worth the money. Had a couple of drinks which were fine. Will not be going again, tried it, didn't like it.

Lovely Victorian pub which is a must visit over the festive period, so cosy and lovely, it's just gorgeous. Serves a wide variety of local ales and ciders, as well as mulled fares over the winter. A must visit place after a day of shopping, the food is hearty and filling. Some what overpriced, but can be over looked because of the amazing architecture.

Beautiful Architecture
Oct. 2015 • Friends
I generally take visitors to Leeds to see this architectural gem. However I've sometimes been left embarrassed by the experience, as the service can be terrible, as can the food (it never really gets beyond average). I once had to wake up the bar-man, who was laid down asleep behind the bar, and that's far from my worst experience here! There's a large range of ales, though often not the best choices. I've had plenty of good times here though, and the booths are nice if you can get one.

Have been to the Vic a fair few times now and not been disappointed yet...great atmosphere lovely food and a decent selection of beers - prices are average for Leeds so no shocks there, if your staying this end of town and not heading up to North Bar or Belgrave this place is well worth a visit

Lovely Surroundings - but over priced drinks...
Jan. 2014 • Friends
No one could deny that sitting in the bar of this pub is a lovely experience. An old fashioned pub complete with booths, brass and tiles.
The food menu is rather expensive so have never tried as its on a par with most restaurants.
The drinks are expensive by comparison to the Horse and Trumpet or The Ship.
There is nothing exciting on the cider front and I tried a bottle of house white wine and it was rather watery and tasteless.
But The Victoria is in a brilliant location, behind the town hall and close to Millennium Square so it will always get lots of passing trade, which is why many people meet here.

Great Old Fashioned Pub
Nice to find some larger, old style Pubs still provide for the established beer drinkers who like a friendly atmosphere. Several ales on offer at reasonable prices. Plenty of room in this quaint piece of old Leeds history - you should go and see it for yourself!
