The Long Barrow is a 1/2 mile gentle upward slopping walk from the small car park, but well worth it. It is through a farmers land, so be respectful. It is worth the walk. It rained while we were here, so we sheltered in the...More

About half a mile south of the A4 London-Bath Road, up a slight rise, the visitor is rewarded by the sight of a huge long mound with an eastern chamber guarded by sarcen stones. One can enter just a short distance inside.

I've been to and inside a few barrows and this is a particularly good one. I would have preferred to have the site to myself but you can't have everything. The views are good and many were having picnics when we were there. It's busy...More

A bit of a walk; but worth it to step inside this ancient burial place. Dark and cool on a hot day; a place to ponder the past and feel at one with our ancestors.

This was truly an amazing thing to see but beware, you have one heck of a walk uphill to get to it! I wish I had been in better shape!

We arrived at the barrow just before sunset (10:00 p.m.) It is amazing! Don't miss this site! Do bring your torch if you arrive late in the evening.

What a setting! To be amount rocks thousands of years old. Park in the motorway and walk to the site.

A very peaceful and inspiring barrow letting us meet history face to face, the atmosphere is empowering and cool as if we should meet a previous occupant at any moment. This is one of many amazing features in the area and when on track on...More

It was a bit of a climb up the hill but such wondrous views to behold, we went on a hot spring day and the surrounding fields were full of rape flowers in bloom. The long barrow, which is an ancient burial mound from 3650...More
