Stunning house, lovely furniture and glass, can walk all round rooms no barriers. Beautiful embroidery, stump work amazing, take a torch to view the faded colours. In fact always take a torch to NT properties (advised by guide at Lacock Abbey! Garden will be lovely in summer. Gift shop, newly opened, usual stuff., why do they sell items inspired by... More

Spent a lovely few hours visiting this beautiful house on a dreary Saturday morning. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We were made to feel very welcome. The house has amazing views of the cathedral and has a very interesting collection of drinking glasses on show. The garden is very pretty and has a great display of spring flowers.... More

On our way to Salisbury Cathedral we happened upon this very interesting property, which has been revitalised by the National Trust. The guides were ready and willing to show you the rooms, explain the history, and point out some of the exquisite contents - we were especially interested to see the Chippendale and Hepplewhite pieces. The garden was very well... More

Mompesson House is an early 18th century townhouse on the close surrounding Salisbury Cathedral. It is a nicely proportioned house. The National Trust has done a first rate job of furnishing the house with period items from its collection. As a result, it gives the feel of the past.

The House itself is in thr hands of the National Trust - a good period house in the Close - but what lifts it out of the ordinary is the loan collection of drinking glasses. If you have any interest in glass, then this is for you. Well dislayed, not enough information in the cabinets, but such glasses as you... More

A National Trust building which unfortunately was closed on our recent visit. From the exterior the building looks most impressive and is situated in the lovely Cathedral Close. Check your times and dates!

Mompesson House is a National Trust property within the Cathedral Close in the city of Salisbury. All rooms open, with a knowledgeable guide on each room to answer any questions you may have, A garden out the back houses a cafe and a croquet lawn, which is used during the summer. A nice little house in the renowned Close. Worth a visit if you are there but I'm not sure I would go out of my way to visit. As part of a wider visit to Salisbury, pop it on your list.

Found the house by accident whilst visiting the cathedral. What a nice surprise. The rooms were decorated for Christmas, which added to the enjoyment of our visit. Guides were very friendly and helpful.
