We stayed on the caravan and camping club site for the second time and had another good experience. Lots of dogs walks around Hudson's field and Old Sarum, perfect for wearing out dogs and children with fantastic views of Salisbury and the surrounding areas. We will definitely be back for another visit.

We camped nearby so walked up to the outer circle of Old Sarum. It's steep for a bit but not too bad. We followed the outer path around, I thought the views from there were good, but when you get inside and higher up they're even more spectacular! You can see Salisbury and it's cathedral in one direction and on... More

We visited here on Easter Saturday and worried as the car park was almost full. Need not have worried as it's a large site with plenty of space. They had an Easter competition on for children which they all seemed to be thoroughly enjoying. The views of Salisbury are great and its a lovely walk around the top. The castle... More

This is a lovely place to go. You can either pay to go in the ruin or you can just wander around the outside. Took my friends little girls (aged 4) and they had a great time charging round and exploring. There is not a lot of information about it there so might be worth looking on the internet first.

Of itself, it is not that amazing. It is a well kept monument, but knowing the history of the Norman invasion, and the bishops there, and the bishops leaving to found Salisbury (on a grid, once a thriving city 500 years ago) makes it exciting. (Old Sarum also was famously a constituency where two people chose an MP in the... More

Beautiful historical spot, overlooking the town of Salibsury. This is a great space to go for a family walk, as it has incredible views overlooking the town, as you walk around the boundary of the ruins. Access to the ruins comes with a price, and to be honest, it is well preserved but not necessarily essential- enjoying the area around... More

We took our dogs and grandchildren for the day. The dogs can run around the outer area off the lead which is a great way to get them to burn of energy. The whole area is steeped in history therefore the grandchildren could be kept occupied with stories of knights and kings. Great day out.

Having been living in Wiltshire most of my life I'm not sure why we had never visited Old Sarum before. And we didn't spend enough time here today either! We had a fleeting visit a few months ago and a family member wanted to come back so we joined EH to take advantage of the membership. Old Sarum is a... More

Nice views. A lot of people picnicing which seemed like a good idea. Interesting history with plaques explaining what was where. Felt there could be a few more where we wondered what some of the ruins were but I guess it tells all in the guide book which we didn't buy. Outside is free but it's Around £13.00 for a... More
