I didn’t quite know what to expect when I booked this for myself & my boys, but I was very happy with the experience. We took the ‘Dragons tail’ experience, & the boys loved it. Our guide for the hour long activity tour was acting out as an elf & was very good with the children & encouraged their interaction & participation with the lighthearted & goofy goofy but relatable manner. There was a very well planned activity quiz, kids win sweets if it’s completed, gold/gem panning area This was extra to admission fee, but at £5 for 2 bags was very good value, it kept the boys thoroughly entertained for 20-30 minutes. The areas are very well set out & maintained. The tracks are not too bad to negotiate, I write this as someone who has mobility issues & I managed well. There is a decent sized play park which is well maintained & has a good variety of obstacles for kids. The cafe is clean & has a good variety of food & drinks. The staff make the experience. They are happy, interactive, knowledgeable & very friendly. I will definitely be returning & recommend silver mountain as a lovely place to spend a few hours. There are also other experiences which, judging by the one we attended will also be of similar quality.

If you have kids aged between 4 and 10 I would say this is a perfect day out!!

We took our 5 and 2 year old. The 2 year old mostly just loved running around doing the sandpit and water play. But our 5 year old completely loved the more immersive and interactive tours. It tipped it down the entire time but we still spent 4+ hours here with the kids in puddle suits which I think speaks volumes. If you go here on a nice day I think it could definitely be an all day affair whether you choose to bring a picnic or utilise the cafe.
Good parking. It was £50 odd for 2 adults, 1 child. Our youngest was free. Obviously not cheap but like I say you can bring your own food and drink and treat it as a whole day activity.

I would like the mountain to please extend our thanks to "ivy" (pictured) the elf who took us on the dragon tour who was absolutely fantastic with our 5 year old, who got a bit nervous in the cave bit meeting the dragon. She was the perfect balance of patient and fun and we were so grateful. Our daughter has carried on talking about the "gigantifier" all holiday.

Brilliant place. Staff were lovely and the tours were great. Did the Black Chasm and A Miners Life tour. Great time to go (Midweek November) as it was nice and quiet. My guide was great on both tours and really got into the acting (and was very scary) Would highly recommened a day out here. :)

We visited Silver Mountain on the way back from New Quay to break up the journey and we are so glad we did. My wife and toddler did the Dragons Tale tour which they enjoyed and the elf was in character the whole time and made it fun for them. The rest of us did Black Chasm and it was spectacular. Margaret the Witch was impecable, scary and informative. She jumped out on me a couple times and bear in mind I'm a 6ft5 fully grown man it proper made me jump. it's a shame we didn't get to say thank you to her at the end so hopefully she reads this! if you're in two minds as to whether to visit.. do! the rest of the place is also cool, the kids loved the Gold and Gem panning and the maze in the woods.

Had a great day out. The black chasm tour was fantastic, the tour guide was excellent. The cafe is really nice, reasonably priced and the coffee was great. The added bonus of an escape room on site was a great way to make more of a day out of it, and having done a few, would recommend the jack the ripper room. All staff were really friendly and could not have been more polite. Will definitely come back with all the family if we're ever in the area, and highly recommend to anyone.

Silver Mountain Experience is a good spot for little ones, with bit of activities to keep them entertained. For adults, it might feel like there could be a bit more to engage with. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our visit, which made the experience better. I’d love to see more vegan options in the café for variety. One downside was that when my child accidentally knocked something off a shelf in the shop, I was charged £14,which felt a bit strict. Also the mine was tiny expected a bit more of it and a bit more halloween activity and decoration during Halloween half term .Overall, a fun place for young families, with room for improvement.

We had an afternoon here and took part in the Black Chasm tour. It was only our family on the tour and the actor playing the witch was a really amazing actor. We had our 9 and 11 years olds. It was on the cusp of being too scary for our 9 year old (so careful if you have a more sensitive younger child) but he actually loved it anyway. Be prepared for really good jump-scares though! We ended up staying for some trails and panning for gems. A really lovely afternoon.

We visited today for the first time. 2 x adults, 14 year old twins, 12, 9 and 7 year olds. We booked the Miner's Trail and our guide was Julie.
The staff when we arrived were very friendly and helpful. We were given a treasure hunt sheet and a quiz to complete, as we walked around.
We all loved our tour, Julie was very knowledgeable and spoke enthusiasticly as she explained all about life as a miner. The children were fascinated by the artefacts. Julie engaged the attention of the children and adults with lots of interesting facts.
After the tour we used the play area, which the children loved!
We then explored the entire site to get all of the hidden items and quiz answers.
The children then had the opportunity to pan for gold and gems. They loved this activity and were able to bring home a little bag of treasure for their efforts. The children were also given sweets for completing the treasure hunt and quiz.
The gift shop has some beautiful items and is very reasonably priced. The cafe is also very reasonably priced.
We had a lovely day and would definitely return.
Julie, our guide, really does deserve a mention, as she was so friendly and engaging, she even gave us recommendations of other local places to visit.

We visited on 18/06. We booked for The Black Chasm tour, which we had to wait for so while waiting we went panning for gold which was quite fun. We then had a walk round the little museum, very informative. Once they were ready we were greeted by 'The Lady of the Mountain', (a witch), called Lowri. There was only my husband and myself but wow what an experience. Lowri was full of knowledge and although seemed scary, was actually quite nice lol. Going underground and seeing what the miners would have to have dealt with was mindblowing. Once the tour was over, after about 50 mins, we did the trail and answered the questions. We then went to the cafe and I had a Turkish delight hot chocolate (gorgeous), hubby had a white mocha and we both had some cake.
Would definitely recommend if you are in this area.

Hi, thanks so much for taking the time to write a review. We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the visit! Lowri the witch says you'll ruin her reputation by calling her nice ;) but she's glad you enjoyed the Black Chasm and wishes you a 'terrible day'! (black heart emoji)

Stumbled across The Silver Mountain experience online, whilst holidaying in Borth. Called and spoke with friendly and helpful staff ahead of our arrival. We booked 'The Black Chasm' tour and our guide/actress was Margaret. Margaret made our day! Absolutely fantastic. Remained in character throughout despite my husband's input and entertained us all. (Aged 43, 38, 11 and 10) The four of us thoroughly enjoyed our tour. The children then played in the adventure playground, conquered the maze, played pipes and completed the trail before we sat and ate our picnic. Would highly recommend! The kids say five stars aren't enough! :-)
