The old town walls of Caernarfon are mainly found now near The Caernarfon Castle. You cannot walk on the walls but they look magnificent standing along side the glorious Castle. Well worth to spend time wandering around these near the waters edge.

If you are there I suggest you do this also. They are mostly between the two marina's in the town with several nice gates along the way.

One always wonders why people go someplace where no one wants them. Then the build a walled city to keep those people out. Well history is full of stories like that and Caernarfon has some very formidable town walls that protected it. We were glad...More

Though I chose not to bother with a guided tour inside the castle, I was pleased to be able to get a feel for Caernarfon's old town by wandering around and within the walled area - it's a lovely area with shops and places to...More

We planned a Day out to Caernarfon (originally) to go to the steam train station. Due to timing and not being sure how far away we were from it we just stay local and had a look around the town and had some lunch before...More

We had a walk around the walls after the castle, very well preserved and look beautiful, a very interesting place with plenty to see & lovely narrow streets leading in from the walls. Makes a gorgeous stroll in the summer sun.

I didn't know beforehand how well survived the Caernarfons walled centre is. But it surely was worth a visit and probably would be offered even more if we'd have more time. Yet, even when briefly seen, it was impressive.

What a Town. Castle is huge. Best yet. A walled city amazing what was done in our past. Very educational. Town itself presented interesting walks around and inside the walls. I highly recommend a visit, certainly will not be disappointed.

Caernarfon town walls form part of the defences of the historic town that were led by the castle itself. Great to walk around and imagine an era from history.

As with all other public places, dogs need to be on a leash with usual restrictions on shops/cafes etc
