We got the 10.00 train to Portmadog from Caernarfon - we arrived at 9.30am and there was no problem booking the tickets on the day. The scenery is beautiful and the staff were attentive and friendly. About 1/2 way into the journey and at one...More

Instead of allowing families to enjoy what they have created for a reasonable price, they charge a fortune for a short ride, more than I have ever paid for a steam railway.Public funding has gone into this project, so we, as tax payers, have already...More

At the moment the station itself is just a platform. The new station buildings are still under construction at the end of this platform. Across the road from the platform is a small free car park next to a booking office and small shop. Next...More

We decided to only go as far as Beddgelert and return by bus since we had sights in Caernarfon that we still wanted to see that day. The train was a great little steam train with classic cars. Can get a decent picture of the...More

Today (Tuesday), me and Hubby had a walk along St. Helen's Road to check out the new railway station complex. Work is progressing well (see photo) and I believe the complex is due to open this Autumntime.

Travelled on the steam train with a coach party. We had a lovely ploughman's on board. It went through some lovely countryside. It is dog friendly which was good.

This is a wonderful steam train trip, the return taking the best part of five hours through spectacular scenery, and with great service throughout. Lunch was so popular that it took a while to arrive, and was delicious, from a short menu concentrating on local...More

Brilliant experience. Lovely route with some beautiful stops en route to Porthmadog. There are some really nice shops in Porthmadog or if you prefer there is a beautiful village called Bedgellert that you can visit. It has lots of small coffee shops and pubs.

Possibly the most spectacular railway route in Britain. The newly rebuilt railway running through Snowdonia to link up with the Ffestiniog at Porthmadog travels through breathtaking scenery. It's a long route so set off early if you plan a return trip with a stop en...More
