Chirk to llangollen

Great way to spend a few hours walking, pubs en route but take a torch for the tunnels, breathtaking scenery.

Love the canal walk from Llangollen to Chainbridge hotel. Really lovely stretch of water with plenty of wildlife. Visited many times and also stayed in Llangollen on a narrowboat. Never bored plenty to do and see for us.

We parked our hired narrowboat in the marina for a very reasonable £10 for the night. We had a lovely walk up to the Weir designed by Thomas Telford. Had a few drinks in the Chain Bridge Hotel. Beautiful scenery. Lucky with the weather on this occasion.

Llangollen canal walk is enjoyable whatever the weather! We love to walk this canal path. The sun was shining which made it even better you can watch the canal boats go by Jackie

Had a great circular walk from Llangollen via Offa's Dyke path on way to Aqueduct and by canal path on the way back. Took in historic sites, good views of the valley and canal boats and bridges

A lovely easy walk from the LLangollen wharf to the start of the canal at Horseshoe falls. Full of interest - horse drawn boats to see (beware the poo on the towpath}, chain bridge and Chainbridge Hotel and the amazing Horseshoe Falls where the canal starts. Not to be missed.

This walk is perfect for anyone who struggles with climbs... following the canal for 4.5miles from Pontcysllte Aquaduct into Llangollen you will pass some beautiful contrside, the vistas are stunning - especially if you manage to catch some favourable weather to further enhance the views. My family walk this every year, my son was just 4 the first time he... More

Enjoyed this but can't really say it was anything particularly special. It was a winter afternoon though, maybe prettier in summer. My local canal in Bury is probably nicer. But if you want an easy peaceful walk then a canalside strill is pretty much always going to be a winner

Just spent 3 days in Llangollen and having left my walking map of the area back at home I ended up asking 4 different locals whether the aqueduct was accessible by walking along the river Dee or what would be a nice walk to get there. One said walk the path along the river, and let me assure you he... More

The are some lovely footpaths and quiet country lanes which allow you to take circular walks using the canal as an outward or return route. The Horseshoe Falls are worth a visit and the Chain bridge is also an interesting sight. Being in a valley, however, most circular walks include a climb at some point.
