About
Zip World Betws-y-Coed offers an idyllic woodland setting for all your adventure needs. The heart of the site is the Fforest Coaster - based on the traditional toboggan but running on rails, it offers a year round, all-weather experience for ages 3 and up. There are two high ropes courses; Treehoppers for younger children (5-12 years) and Zip Safari 2 (9 years and up). You can bounce and explore to your heart's content on Treetop Nets; giant bouncy nets suspended in the trees, or experience the thrill of Skyride 2, Europe's highest five-seater swing. Drop 100ft alone or with a friend on the world's first tandem drop experience, Plummet 2. After all that adventure, why not relax, re-fuel and watch the action from one of our two on-site cafes. Open all year round.

    Outstanding Instructors
Absolutely amazing place for family! We booked in for ‘Hoppering’ and from start (check in) I believe her name was Fraya?! to finish we were outstanded by the staff and their attitude towards work. My son Evan, decided he didn’t want to continue which meant an Instructor had to come up to get him. I couldn’t thank maymay I think?!?! enough for her help, guided my son throughout the course!!! Amazing instructor. We eventually had to come down with a different plan which was helped by I think his name was Matt?! Thank you thank you thank you

    Fun but pricey
We had a great time here, picking a couple of activities for ourselves and the kids (6&11). First up we did the tree hoppers, that was really fun, the actual hopping and zip lining itself was great. But we started about 10 minutes late and then the harnesses etc took another 10 minutes, and then when we came off the second part we were told to take our harnesses off as the session was done, despite there still being 10 minutes remaining. So £80 for a family to do 30 minutes of an activity is pretty steep. A shame as like I said, it really was fun and the kids were loving it. We did the coaster too which was great too, so we had a great time for sure, but pricey really for what it is. None the less, we loved it and would return and recommend to others!

An experience but a bit off the beaten track
We visited here with our teenage grandson whilst on holiday in North Wales. Plenty of activities and facilities. On the expensive side but an experience. We were very disappointed to learn that the online booking service charged a fee for this. We refused to pay as it can be up to 20% added to the price of the ticket. We turned up and booked in person and were taken straight away. Why they need to charge a fee is beyond me. My grandson enjoyed his rides on the Fforest Coaster and overall it was worth the travelling for him. We paid £27 for my grandson to have 3 rides on the coaster. ( all riders have three goes for the £27) you cannot pay for just one ride.

Amy @ tree hoppers was Amazing
My 7 year old was desperate to do this but has a fear of heights . But the level of help and encouragement she was given by Amy and her team was unexpected and absolutely amazing and we just want to thank them so much for helping her achieve the unachievable !! I’m sure she will never forget it . You helped her to feel proud rather than feeling like a failure . Amy thank you !!

Great experience, but harness causes bruising!
It’s a a fabulous experience going here! We done the tree top adventure, the forest coaster and Plummet! The coaster was really good just make sure you get in front of slow people who break all the way down. Kind of spoils it a little bit. Also my only criticism is I mentioned when doing to tree top when getting fitted into the harness, I said to the instructor this will cause bruising as the mental parts were digging into my leg even thought it wasn’t tight. Had a bruise on my leg for a good week afterwards.

Fantastic day out with superb facilities
We visited this site not long after it opened and loved it. Fast forward a number of years and the place was unrecognizable. The centre itself is superb, staffed well with friendly and helpful staff. The cafe alone is worth a visit serving food coffee and excellent food. This time we opted for the small zipwire to see how my young teen would cope. At every stage the assistants were outstanding both in their proficiency but also in their relationship with the customers. They got my rather reluctant daughter on the zip wire and she finished her run in tears after watching her old brother fluff his landing. This is a wonderful addition to the North Wales visitors scene, well worth a visit if only to observe and get a feel. Certainly not cheap but feels more than value for money. We'll be back for Velocity and see how the kids cope with that!

    A must try!
Wow this goes a lot faster then you think it will! Amazing experience though. Even though it was the summer holidays we weren’t queuing that long. Definitely recommend booking on line as it can sell out. After our go the kids were desperate for another turn so we went to book and found out that you get 50% off any other activities after your first one which was a huge bonus. My little one who is 3 went on and she wasn’t the biggest fan so maybe not for those that are scared of going fast. A must do though if you’re in north wales.

Great activities and a high quality venue
Visited as a family of 2 adults, 2 teens and booked the Zip Safari. No it's not the cheapest for activities, but we were there for a full afternoon and everyone had a great time. Entire site is very clean and all seems high quality. We arrived early so ate in the cafe and the prices in there were reasonable compared to comparable alternatives. As a "big treat" while on holiday, it was ideal!
Hi Dave M, Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience! It's great to hear that you had such an amazing time! The Zip Safari is always great fun. Coaster
Went for my sons 14th birthday! Second time visiting a zip world. Not been to this one before. It was amzing we did the coaster and you get 3 goes you can choose the speed you go as you control the breaks. Myself and my daughter went together. We also did jumping in the trees. Smaller site than the one in Windermere but great exhausting fun. Staff were so helpful and happy and approachable. Even met the owner and ceo in the cafe and they were very friendly and approachable. I would definitely recommend zip worlds and we plan to visit the velocity when my daughter is old enough!

    Zip safari
Myself and my 15yr old had a great time on the Zip Safari. A great way to spend a couple of hours. The course is really fun with a choice of easy and not so easy obstacles. Instruction on use is straight forward. We rounded of our visit with a stop at the cafe nearest the road. It’s a lot quieter than the one in the centre, good choice to. Will be back next year.

As someone who has done zip worlds titan, velocity and the day before this we did bounce below. All those I cannot fault. However I paid £85 for me and daughter to share and my boys a kart each. Booked 11 till 12. We started lining up in the rain about 10.50. Got first go at 11.25.wet and cold. Ride was fun.. Then back to the huge queue.... 12.10 we got our 2nd go.. Fun. We didn't do third go as we were cold, feet like ice, wet through and queue was even bigger as the next surge of booking arrived and would of been at least 45 mins before it. Utterly disappointing to spend such a large amount of money to ultimately stand in rain, freeze, have no flow or shelter, no one apologised to explain why. My opinion is it is over booked and over priced and not kept in the time zone with or without technical faults. Sadly I felt I had to complain and as I booked online couldn't authorise refund and still awaiting the promised refund agreed.

I'm sure for some people this will be rated higher, but I gave it an average because I felt a bit let down in a couple of areas. I booked 3 activities in advance for me and my 8 year old daughter. The activities were Plummet 2, Tree Hoppers and Fforest Coaster. On arrival I was told I couldn't do Plummet because my Daughter didn't meet the expected minimum weight criteria of 130 kgs. When they weighed her she was 127 KG's. Now come on, we're talking here the difference is one and half bags of sugar. Surely they could have a few kilo of weights around that could be attached to boost a young child's weight (if really needed). Given this ride has a minimum age restriction of 7yrs, you won't get many kids rolling in with a weight of 130 KG's and my Daughter is nearly 8 and half years! So, that was my first disappointment. Tree Hoppers I think is good (both green & red), but none of them were challenging enough for my 8yr old Daughter and the zip lines could do with being longer. The height is not 75 feet above the ground either, it might be if you measure up from the main road, but from the ground at the activity it's only around 20ft, so you don't get a real sense of height. The next disappointment was the Fforest Coaster. Now I booked a time-slot in advance, but when that time came, the queue was long with long waiting times, that went well beyond my time-slot. As a result of this, out of the 3 rides, I only managed to get one ride at full speed all the way down. The first and third rides (even when I asked the attendant to hold us back at the start) we were let down by other participants ahead of us going slow and applying the brakes, which means your cart slows down automatically if it gets too close. For what it costs, I felt value for money was a bit of a let down. There wasn't much else to do because my Daughter is 8 but I do feel they could allow children to do more and relax on the age restrictions a little bit.

Hello Craig, I am sorry to hear that you didn't have a great experience, this is our aim with customers. We do have to stick to our restrictions very closely as all of our adventures have been safety checked based on them so age and weight is very important. I appreciate that a small number may be frustrating when it comes to being able to take part or not however it is for safety and we do not compromise on this. Tree hoppers is for 5 years and over so it ranges in how difficult each element is as to challenge but not scare the younger adventurer. We have the 'red' course for the braver children who want to have more of a challenge. We do also appreciate that the queue on the coaster can get big however we do advise that it can take up to an hour and a half to have all 3 goes. It's great fun once you do take part! We do hope that you visit Zip World again soon! Best wishes, Adventure booking team

We visited Zip World for the Fforrest Coaster on a friend’s recommendation - 6 adults. It was great fun for everyone: the thrill seekers loved it and paired up on one cart to go faster. But some of the group who normally hate rollercoasters also enjoyed it because you can brake enough to go at a very pleasant speed.

At £20 for 3 gos on the ride it’s not too badly priced. We went at 2:30 on a Monday (an hour before the ride finishes) which was just enough time and no queues!

Me and my family stopped here on the way home after a weekend doing the other zipworld activities.
We had booked to do the Fforest coaster at 2.30 however there was a bit of a delay after the previous slot had overran.
A sign at the bottom says to allow 45mins for your first run and then less for you following 2, however ours was shorter than this. We probably waited 20mins, before being given a quick talk through about what to do. Although it is a coaster, you still have the ability to brake or go full pelt, although on some of the corners it felt like you'd go flying off the rails if you didnt brake. There are signs giving you notice when to do so anyway.
It takes about 6 minutes per ride. After your first you join a seperate queue where you are prioritised ahead of the next slot. On your 2nd and 3rd go you are offered a camera, which films your ride and can be bought after for £8.

The ride was so much fun and my 4 year old son had an awesome time as well.
Each carriage is kitted out for 2 people, so if theres a few of you doing it and a child or two, you can alternate freely who the child goes with on each ride.

Its best to wear clothes that you dont mind getting dirty and the carriages can get a little muddy.
It was raining when we were there, however a lot of the carriages have canopies so it can be an all weather activity.

I can't recommend this activity enough. Its brilliant. There is also loads of other things to do on site, so you can easily make a day of it.

We did the Forest coaster today. Bit unfortunate with the weather. Rain was sheeting it down for the whole time we were there. This didn’t ruin the sheer exhilaration of the ride once we got on. You get three goes on the ride, each around 6 minutes with roughly 15-20 minute queues in between goes. Once on the coaster, you climb for a good 3 minutes up to the top before being let loose. There is a handle on either side which you hold forwards to let the cart speed up and pull back to brake. We have a video to remember it by which is great quality for a small extra cost. Not cheap but well worth it for something different and unique. COVID wise, the carts were being spray sanitised after every ride and hand sanitiser was available all around.

Staying in North Wales for a week and we booked this for some fun for my 2 teenage sons.

They had a fantastic time, they went on the Fforest coaster, first time down they said their legs were shaking from being scared but soon got used to it.

Staff were all really friendly and helpful and I really recommend spending £8 and getting the camera fitted for the final run. You then get emailed a cool video where the camera is facing towards them and tons of photos of them really excellent thank you

Hi John, Thanks for taking the time to write about your Fforest Coaster adventure i'm glad the boys enjoyed it and were brave enough to carry on! The Revl cameras are great for recording your memory of the day, as well as being a nice way to share your experience on social media. Now that you have passed through the trees on the coaster you may want another shot of adrenaline. Why not try taking on Plummet2 - We bring you another world first as you drop through a trap door over 100ft high to experience the closest thing to freefall! We did the Fforest coaster on the way back from a week's stay in Anglesey and had a really fun couple of hours here. The operation here was just as slick as the Zip World at Bethesda and had the advantage of being something that all the family could enjoy (our 10 year old had his own coaster whereas we rode with our 4 year old twins).

We were surprised how busy the site was, and look forward to trying the zip courses with the children another time. These are fairly expensive activities (compared to similar ones we have visited in Germany) so we'll need to save them up as special treats for another time. Look forward to returning.

My partner and I visited the site on 02/09/20 for the first time. We were on holiday to North Wales and were looking forward to the visit. I rang Zip World Fforest on the morning to double check everything was still going ahead due to the weather (strong winds and heavy rain) and I was told everything was going ahead as planned. This was the first opportunity Zip World had to say there would be delays due to the weather, but nothing.

We arrived at 12pm as advised by Zip World for our 12:30pm slot on the Forest coaster. We were told when joining the queue that there would be a 20 min delay due to the weather. This was the only time staff communicated with those in the queue. At 1.15pm we were no further forward and asked how long the wait would be. Staff were unable to answer. It was absolutely pouring down and freezing cold! Those in the queue were of course dressed for the weather and were stood with umbrellas to do their best in keeping dry. Staff did not appreciate the inconvenience caused and no offers were made to account for the inconvenience!

We queued for 1.5 hours and a manager was called. A family behind us had asked for the manager and when speaking to him were met by a rude and arrogant member of staff whose response was to buy / bring more umbrellas. I then asked to speak to him and asked how long until we got on and we were told it would be at least another 30 - 45 mins. At this point we decided to leave and request a full refund. No apologies were given and staff continued to place blame on the weather. A 20 min delay would have been acceptable NOT 1.5 hours+. Even a complimentary hot drink whilst queueing for such a long period of time would have gone a long way!

So badly organised and such poor communication from staff. Staff appear disinterested and don’t appear grateful for the custom! Provisions should be in place to account for bad weather

Hello Nixxx_91, We are sorry to hear of your experience and disappointment. Unfortunately we had unforeseen technical issues along with bad weather (heavy rain) on the 2nd and therefore this did cause a delay in getting our customers on the Fforest coaster. Our team on site did try and keep all customers informed throughout the delay and a text message was sent to everyone booked on to give them the heads up. There is very limited under cover space due to being in the Fforest. We do advise all customers to dress appropriately and unfortunately the Welsh weather was really against us on that day! We do apologies for this as we want all of our customers to have an enjoyable time whilst with us. Kind regards, Zip World adventure booking team

Booked to do the tree top safari 2 and the mountain coaster after. We turned up early for the safari and they let us join the earlier group. The tree top safari was both brilliant and totally frightening, especially if like me you don’t like heights! Gotta push yourself though! The equipment training and how to use it was very clear and helped you feel confident in the harness. I totally loved the zip wires, but must admit the obstacle bridges were very scary, but I felt amazing that we conquered our fears and pushed on, even crossing the “surf boards” the hardest part of the course. It was great value for money and took about 2.5 hours to complete. Then we queued for the mountain coaster at our allotted time, but we were told it would be at least an hours delay and I had no intention of standing around in the rain for that long, so rebooked for the next morning, where we just walked straight on and it was brilliant. The staff were all super friendly and really added to the experience.
Now the bad…The catering was a complete joke. Only a cafe open back down at the entrance and after walking down there and despite not being busy, we were told it would be a 45 minute wait for what is essentially “fast food”! Gave up on that, the only other thing on offer were some overpriced filled waffles and they were cold and pre-made and honestly, horrible. They need to work on the catering to match what else they have to offer. I can only imagine how bad it would be if they were actually busy.
Overall we loved the experience, but bring your own food is our advice.

We visited the Fforest twice during our week in Wales. On both occasions all the staff we encountered during the activities were brilliant.
The forest coaster was brilliant fun - we Pre booked and had paid for the video/photo package which is £6 in advance per person (or per cart if there are two of you in one car) We all really enjoyed it. The lady starting the carts off held me back as the young boy in front wanted to go slowly as he was nervous so that was great and meant I then didn’t have to slow down.
My 9 and 12 year old did the tree hoppers course as the 9 year old is just too small for the zip safari course as both enjoyed it. We didn’t realise that they only get 1 go around the 2 courses and as they were both confident and the course was empty, they were done in 30 minutes. It does say the course takes approx 1 hour to complete and I had assumed it was like other places we had been where you just keep going around until your hour is up but this is not the case. Totally my misunderstanding and it was as advertised etc but thought it might be useful for people to know when booking - obviously for some people with younger/nervous children it will take longer than the hour.
The cafe was a nightmare. My husband bought a cup of tea and a coffee and then waited 20 minutes for them to be made to take away. Absolutely no idea why!
This place is great and we will definitely be going back and was a great bit of fun in a wet and rainy week.
