The fortress sprawls over a huge area making it the largest castle in Wales. Like the famous cheese, the castle has long been synonymous with Caerphilly. It dominates. Hogs the limelight. Think slumbering giant awaiting a call to arms. It's also a great backdrop for TV and film. It secured a starring role recently in the popular BBC TV series Merlin.

Had our son and his fiancée's wedding here on Friday. We all had a fantastic day and evening in a stunning setting. The staff, Steve and Mel made it a day to remember and nothing was too much trouble. Everything ran smoothly from start to...More

A fantastic caste to visit and climb around. There's still a moat all the way around, plus you can walk in through the drawbridge. You can also see into the dungeon at one point. My grandson loved his visit. Great historical interest and, at certain...More

Very beautiful castle in a very nice town. The day we went there were a small market outside and the entrance was 2x1 (so, basically half price). We went to visit some location used in Doctor Who and we discovered a jewel. Just a shame...More

Dating back to the 1200s, this is one of the most fascinating castles in the country, located in the heart of Caerphilly. It is well fortified, surrounded by water, and even has its own leaning tower. It's located not far from Cardiff and so makes...More

We came on a busy Sunday, but the castle was still very enjoyable. The traveling dragons had just had their offspring and were quite the attraction. There were also tents with guides dressed in medieval garb that explained aspects of castle life. Wish there had...More

Fantastic castle a short train journey from Cardiff. The train station is along the main street to the castle--about 6 blocks away. It's a castle like you think one should be. I've seen a number of castle ruins in Wales and England and this is...More

Yes, lots of information around the Castle about it's history, check the website because CADW have good events going on sometimes and the dragons outside are a must see.
