A great family activity whether you do part of the walk from Cardiff Bay, or from Penarth Marina & watch the boats going through the locks at the Barrage. Where the River Taff flowed into what used to be tidal Cardiff Bay, the building of the Barrage has made a non tidal Lagoon, used for yachting, international water events &... More

A level pedestrian route from Mermaid quay to the lock gates provides an invigorating walk or a gentle stroll. And for tired feet you can catch the Waterbus or Toytown train back. There is plenty to see within the bay and out over the estuary. This is suitable for all ages and mobility. There are numerous benches for tired legs... More

My partner and I have recently stayed down the Bay and we spent a good portion down the barrage. It's an easy walk from behind the Dr Who Experience and it's a beautiful scenic area to walk or cycle around. The views of the bay as a whole are fantastic. There are also very clean facilities which we did bot... More

Cycled through the barrage on the way back from Caerphilly. Interesting to watch the barrage open and close.

the barrage is one of the best features of Cardiff, fresh air, a view of the Bristol channel, Cardiff Bay and the historic buildings that once were the centre of coal export to the WORLD.

Fab views over the sea and across the Penarth. Walk from the Bay across to the Barrage and back for a lovely stroll with family or friends or take your bike. Lots to see and do and great coffee shops, bars and restaurants around.
