If you are in South Wales you must visit Newport's Transporter Bridge, one of a few working examples in the world. If you are feeling brave there is a walkway over the top of the structure too.

I am petrified of heights so even looking at the 270 steps to the top gantry made me queasy - I did go across the River Usk on the gondola, which has space for six cars, and it was a quick journey. This is an...More

Visited today with my 2 daughters aged 15 and 11, and my parents. The girls walked across the top with their Grampy, and me and nan took the gondola. They really enjoyed the challenge as it was so high.

This is worth a trip if you are in the area. It happened to be the day a vintage car club was crossing so double delight!

It is about a half hour walk at the most. There is a taxi office at the train station and they will take you straight there for around £5.00. You don't need transport to use the bridge as there is seating on the gondola... More
