Well worth a visit for a walk. It is a lovely place to spend the day - plenty of interesting walks, and lots of wildlife. There is a very good visitor centre, and from the seawall the views are amazing

Great way to entertain a 1 and 3 year old, so much to do and see, ideal if you want to sit with a coffee in the great coffee shop/ cafe. Kids loved it.

Safe yes but quite a long ride! I would guess about 5 miles. You could get a bus from the bus station which is about a 5 min walk from the train station!
