Nice place to take a stroll round and learn about wild life, why not take your children and get them to learn about the wild life ,very interesting, you can get a bus, just a nice place to go.

The wetlands have to be one of the best walking areas in the Newport area, in certain areas you have to put your dog on a lead, because of the wildlife. But great views of the channel and the lighthouse

Safe yes but quite a long ride! I would guess about 5 miles. You could get a bus from the bus station which is about a 5 min walk from the train station!
