My two children (11 & 7) and I spent around an hour here during a wet Easter school holiday. We all thoroughly enjoyed finding out about the history of Newport and surrounding area. The gallery although small was a lovely find too.

The ceramics, on this floor, are also well documented. The museum on the first floor is thoughtfully laid...More

A midday weekday visit to Newport -granted itself a somewhat dilapidated town- revealed a glorious history of having the largest sea lock in the world in 1910 etc. Plus interesting Roman type and medieval stuff and some entertaining art exhibits. It provided a cultured and...More

Usually in a small museum there is at least one really interesting exhibit that excites & intrigues, maybe I wasn't in the mood for it but I remained uninspired. I did like the teapots and the charming room settings & the film of the opening...More

Although, not the biggest Art Gallery we have been to,this is still worth a visit. There are nice exhibits, from paintings to ceramics and a large display of tea pots.A nice way to pass an hour or so.

The museum and art gallery reflect the local area well. There are some real highlights including the Art Gallery which highlights teachers at the Art School. The Roman collection is interesting with a mosaic floor at its centre. I am interested in rocks so liked...More
