Most Belfast city dwellers don't even notice Cavehill sticking up on the horizon - they're so used to it. But many have never ventured up its slopes to the summit. Those that haven't are missing out. The views are stunning. And the walk doesn't need to be strenuous either. It can be a tricky climb from Belfast Castle but a... More

This is a lovely park in great surroundings. Belfast Castle in close proximity as well as Cave hill.

Ascended the hill via the Hightown Road end. Not too steep a climb from there with only one difficult stretch. About 25 minutes from the very small car park. Worth it for the panoramic view of Belfast from McArts Fort. Bring a picnic and enjoy the experience.

Caught bus out of Belfast for the 30ish minute journey to the castle, the castle cannot bee seen from the road, so ask the bus driver to give you a shout when you need to get off - our driver pointed us in the right direction and advised that once through the gates of the park to take the path... Stunning views - drove and parked outside Belfast Castle and took the "Cavehill" route. Signage not that great and was not sure if on the right track, took a shortcut to "the caves" and missed the "Devil's Punchbowl". Again no obvious signs to McArts Fort from the caves. Nothing left of the ring fort but the views are great. If... More

If you've got the stamina for a long hike, Cave Hill Country Park offers extraordinary views from the heights of Cave hill. Belfast Lough looks phenomenal from the quiet of the hill. There are plenty of accessible amenities if you feel inclined. I went for the simplicity, the peace and the wild fresh air up on high. Stunning.

We walked to the top of the cave hill from the Belfast Castle car park. If your planning to do it then I recommend going early as parking is a bit of a nightmare. We followed the green route to the summit which was enjoyable and not too steep. It took us about 2hrs to complete the route back to... More
