Lagan Weir is close to the city centre and there is a pedestrian bridge to get across the river and you can also have a look at the weir as you cross. It's an easy way to get to the Titanic Quarter and you can see the Odyssey centre and the Titanic exhibition from the bridge.
One of the things I was very pleased to see as I crossed the water was a couple of black headed gulls perched on the weir minding their own business. This reminded me of my first visit to the Province in 2000 when my friend and I spent a bit of time on Eisenhower Pier in Bangor photographing these birds.

This attraction can be found beside the "Big Fish" on Donegall Quay. The footbridge crosses the Lagan River, and it's a shortcut over to the Odyssey. On the bridge, there are many locks, put there by ordinary folk, as a sign of their love for one another. It reminded me of the Ha'penny Bridge in Dublin. Bring your camera as there are some lovely views.

This is a lovely modern bridge just for walkers and cyclists and looks lovely lit up in the evening.
There are seats along its length so you can sit and look over the river and weir.
Well used bridge by locals and tourists alike.

This is free to visit and gives you lovely views of the Lagan River. It also provides access to both sides of the river, and is useful if walking to the Titanic Quarter from Belfast City or vice versa.

Lagan Weir is not only a pedestrian bridge but also an engineering solution to keep the level of the river artificially constant. This helped to avoid mudflats and excluded a strong smell because of them. It also helped to improve the water quality and the environment around the river. Very neat solution!

It is lovely to walk alongside the river and end up at this place. You have really nice views of the river and part of the harbor. It is specially beautiful at sunset.

I liked the old bridge, but it was admittedly purely functional. The new one is big and broad and curvy. There are even benches midway you can sit on. Do stop and take time, if you can, to look for swimming seabirds below.

Lagan Weir is a nice way to walk over the Lagan in the direction of either the Odyssey Complex or the city centre. The views are lovely from both the Weir & look-out & you can get some good photos of the big fish. I was sad that I didn’t glimpse any seals that are known to this area but there were a lot of seagulls giving me the evil eye! There are padlocks attached to the Weir which people write the names of their loved ones on which is endearing.
The major disappointment to me was that when I reached the Weir in order to return back over to the Odyssey car park there was workmen cordoning off the entrance. I managed to rush passed them before they closed it entirely but did notice the signs up at both sides of the Weir – closed from 27 October 2014 – June 2015. They are advising pedestrians to use the Queen Elizabeth II bridge instead which not only adds on a few minutes to your journey but it is not as peaceful a walk as you are walking beside the traffic flow.

This is a foot bridge across the river Lagan, part of a flood defence. I do like the views, and was lucky one day and saw small black birds that were swimming under the water. I don't know what kind they were. On one side of the bridge is a building I have not visited yet. On the other is a very good sculpture of a fish. It is like a salmon, 30 feet long, made of blue tiles. At night this place is very well lit up with coloured lights, which look pretty when the river is spilling over the wier. Very nice place to walk and get away from traffic.

The Lagan weir is a series of massive steel barriers which are used to keep the River Lagan at an artificially constant level during low tide. Otherwise the river mudflats are exposed and were considered unsightly as well as emitted a strong odour, particularly in the summer months.
This engineering marvel also supports a lovely steel and glass bridge over the river. On a clear day, there's great views of the River.
