This is quietly tucked away as you go out of town. More people should appreciate this little gem a friary. Mostly to upset the golfers who look most put out by your existence.

Very interesting place to visit of the history of people of Ballycastle. Special site just for those in the battles and great wars.

Walk through the historic Franciscan Friary! Follow in the footsteps of the Black Nun Julia McQuillian who was savagely murdered and is said to haunt the grounds to this day! Spare a prayer for her soul! Entombed are the remains of the ancient Irish Chief...More

Free access (open all the time) is through part of Ballycastle golf course, but is clear. Once you are in there are explanatory boards. There are no cloister remains - on the side that remains it is marked as domestic buildings. But the church is...More

It's something you could easily miss. Parking is very small and looks like part of a golf course. Walk beside the green and over the wall on the right. Mostly gravestones And a nice ruined church. Unfortunately a fair amount of drink cans and bottles...More

This place is well known locally but less we'll know as a Christian Heritage site of significance. There is a very small car park which can be difficult to find. The site contains graves dating back many hundreds of years. There is a local legend...More

A must see if visiting Ballycastle. Lots of ghost stories involved with the friary so keep on the look out. On my last visit there was a lot of rubbish and unfortunately there is now a locked gate in place to block access to the...More

Nice place for walking alone, but it's pretty small and also, well a graveyard. Though it does have the alleged grave of a ghost which is pretty interesting. Also very beautiful, and close to the beach

This is a quiet, peaceful little Friary with surrounding graveyard. Many of the headstones are too worn to be read, but others give an insight into the history of families in the area. Bit that's not why we go. It sits right in the middle...More
