You park the car approximately 1.5 hour’s walk from where you actually want to be, so do plan to spend at least half a day doing this. The hike is worth it as the views are stupendous all the way. When you do get to...More
Ok, so, I've driven 20,000 miles in my 18 months driving. I have driven through masses of mountain ranges, miles and miles of Irish coast... (2771.9 mile road trip just this summer past) and I have never driven a more knuckle gripping road in my...More
This was the first area we hiked on our walking trip of the Antrim Coast, and I couldn't stop taking photos....despite the intermittent rain and mist. Totally atmospheric, the hills falling down to the sea, and blanketed with heather, the fields lush, full of intrepidly...More
Parked at Fairhead car park and the owner of the farm came out to see us. We told her that we were going on the blue arrowed walk and she told us it should take a couple of hours. However when we got out there...More
We parked near the bay and were delighted by the incredible beauty of the cliffs as well as the coastline. We could even see Scotland nearby! It was fairly quiet and we spent some much-needed time sitting silently watching the sea and area around us.
On arrival we were greeted by Gerard and paid £3 for parking. We walked to the top and were swept away by the breathtaking views. We walked for about an hour and the views got better. Make sure you wear good walking shoes/boots. There are...More

We took a day trip to Fairhead. We found it ok but when we got there it was a farm. The car park was not a car park but rather an entry way into some kind of quarry. There was a charge £3.00 for parking...More

There's a parking area at the bottom of the circular loop that is the Fair Head loop trail. From there it's a climb up to the plateau top and then across the field. It can be boggy and its full of grazing sheep. The views are lovely from the top and it's usually uncrowded compared to other sites in Coastal N. Ireland.
It's not a difficult hike up but the uneven terrain and potential for boggy spots requires good footing and reasonable conditioning.
You CAN NOT drive directly down to the coast at this spot.
