The Magazine Gate is a lovely part of the city walls just opposite the amazing Tower Museum. Walk through it an you will enter the civic plaza in front of the Guild Hall.
On top there is a line of cannons and superb views of the aforementioned Guild Hall and Peace Bridge beyond.
The City Walls are just wonderful, the perfect way to see the city and the Magazine Gate is one of its nicest parts.

Magazine Gate was a later addition and is located across from the Tower Museum and the Guildhall. It is a wider gate and for pedestrians as it opens onto the square by Guildhall. You can also access the top of the wall at this location for some views of the Peace Bridge, Guildhall, and the Tower Museum as well as a bird's eye view of Shipquay Place.

The Magazine Gate in Derry was not one of the original four gates. It was added later in the 1800th century as additional riverfront access.

Right beside the wonderful Tower Museum, makes a great way to walk through the arch to get to it or on your way from it to Guildhall Square.

My wife and I walked across Magazine Gate in Londonderry/Derry in September 2013. This gate was built around 1888 to provide more access to the river front. When you walk the city walls of Londonderry/Derry (which I strongly recommend you do), you will cross this gate. Some of the other six gates (total of seven gates in the Derry city walls) have more historical significance (such as Bishop's & Butcher's Gate) than the Magazine Gate, so do not expect to spend any more time than the time it takes to cross the gate and look over parts of Derry from here.
