Evocative imagery abounds in the mainly nationalist Bogside of Derry..I hope they remain indefinitely despite suggestions to the contrary by some P.U.L. politicians that they are divisive and keep communities entrenched in their viewpoints..The past is contested territory in the post-Troubles era of the 6 county gerrymandered statelet and why wouldnt Unionism want to whitewash their repressive,undemocratic,fascist/coercive past-they are used... More

Bernadette Devlin took a lot of risks in her time and paid the price in her time, I hope she is treated well in history as an outspoken advocate for the people of the Bogside

This mural and the story behind is very moving. We visited it as part of a city tour. It will bring tears to your eyes

Puts you right in the troubles. The desperation and fighting can be palpable. Can feel a frustrated people expressing their fear anger horror. Some are graphic some are inspiring some sadden and some give you butterflies in the stomach

one of my favourite murals. Bernardette Devlin, irish girl, the younger deputy in United Kingdom. She is a symbol of the freedom war in northern Ireland. the murales is so rich of meanings.
