I was delighted to see the Bogside looking so well and the murals telling the story
Of the past ,all by themselves. I was here in 1981 and now the
bright brand new day has arrived here. These people suffered a lot but show such courage and
hope. The museum is also well worth a visit too.

I found the murals on the gables of the Bogside utterly beguiling. All my life I've read about them in papers and history books and seen them on TV but never before today did I see them in person.
There is a plaque below each one telling you a bit about the artist of the murals but you are best to hear it from the guides.
They are beautiful, poignant and iconic. They sadden you but inspire as well. They are a beautiful monument to the dead, especially the schoolgirl mural - so tragic.
The m6ral of Bernadette Devlin is especially vivid, as is the petrol bomber and the iconic depiction of the priest waving the bloody white handkerchief to get medical aid for a stricken young man.
You can see them clearly from the city walls and it would be a pity if people didn't make the short walk down to see them up close.
I would put it up as being my highlight of our trip to Derry, the murals and the walk along the city walls.

The violence has ended but there is still some palpable tension in the air in this part of Derry, so visit during the day and you'll be fine. You can see most of these intense murals from the walls, but up-close is better, especially with the Death of Innocence, the Bloody Sunday Memorial, and the Peace Mural, which we found the most moving. The murals themselves are all outdoors, painted on the sides of buildings, and look like this: http://cain.ulst.ac.uk/bogsideartists/murals.htm.

I lived through the times depicted in the murals and these are most definitely worth seeing. Each image is a true historical
comment of the era of the Troubles.

These 12 murals are poignant, historical, and very important to the story of Derry and The Troubles. Bogside was once a very turbulent area, and still is a very strong community. These murals by the Brothers are beautifully and respectively done. Each has a plaque giving you the background of what is depicted. They are within sight of the Free Derry corner and the Bloody Sunday Memorial.

These murals are worth the trip to Derry even if you don't see anything else in this city. The history that these murals represent (including Bloody Sunday) is too important to forget and these murals in the neighborhood of Bogside are inspiring works of art and silent witnesses to the importance of the events they memorialize. Please note that to find these murals you must leave the walled city of Derry (exit near Butcher's Gate) and walk down the hill a little way to the neighborhood of Bogside. The residents of Bogside are wonderful and proud of their home and its history. Don't miss this, you will not regret it.

Brilliant. The History of this City on visual display by amazing artists. The past that should be forgotten, diluted, edited or brushed over. These huge murals are right in the heart of where Bloody Sunday occurred and visitors can stand in the exact spots were the civil war took place less than 50 years ago.
A great way to tell the story.

Incredible and confronting. These artists truly have a talent for telling a story that broke the hearts of many who lived in the Bogside.

These artists most famous work is, a series of outdoor murals called the "Peoples Gallery" in the Bogside area of Derry, depicting sectarian violence and civil rights protests in Northern Ireland during the "Troubles" There are 12 murals in total, and they span the entire length of Rossville Street. My favorite is "Operation Motorman" A must visit if your in Derry.

I took pictures of many of the murals in the bogside and because I had been reading about the history, I was moved emotionally.

How long should we plan to walk around on our own and see all 12 murals? I didn’t know if there was a map anywhere (online) with them all listed?
