Description:

"The Finest Regiment in the World" was how Sir Winston Churchill...

"The Finest Regiment in the World" was how Sir Winston Churchill described The Gordon Highlanders in 1900.

So why not come and see why?

A wonderful day out and a fantastic welcome await you at The Gordon Highlanders Museum where we are committed to preserving and sharing the legacy of this world-famous Regiment.

The Museum is a Visit Scotland 5* attraction (the only 5* military museum in Scotland). It is located at St Luke's, Viewfield Road, Aberdeen, in the beautiful former home of prominent Scottish artist, Sir George Reid.

However the Gordon Highlanders Museum is more than just a museum - it has a wonderful tea room, a gift shop and beautiful gardens all of which are staffed by volunteers and can offer conference and fine dining facilities as well.

The Museum, in addition to displaying the permanent collection, has a full programme of events throughout the year, including a major annual exhibition (at present 'Shattered Hopes - The Gordon Highlanders in 1914').

It also provides an excellent learning and outreach programme to schools and community groups throughout the North East of Scotland, courtesy of our Education sponsors.

The Gordon Highlanders Museum is an independent self-financed charity that receives no public subsidy. It is reliant upon visitors, donations and sponsorship to maintain its current range of activities.

Opening Times:

Early February - Late November

Tuesday - Saturday, 10am - 4:30pm

Worth a visit!

Had a fantastic insight into local heritage from the museum with my partner. Give it a try, may not be everyone's fascination!

Visited on a rainy March day whilst visiting family in the area. Entry fee rather high for a small museum although it was interesting. Coffee shop had nice fresh food all served by lovely young ladies! :-)

Visited the other month after a time lapse and still found it so nice to be there. Besides the interesting museum with personal memories of a family member it was good to enjoy a lovely meal and with a nice wee garden outside to visit found it very enjoyable.

My partner and I visited 7/3/17 at around lunch time. We were met by a friendly welcome on entering the premises and this continued all the way through our visit. We had something to eat first in the tea room which is clean bright and was served by a very friendly lady. Our lunch of soup and sandwiches was very... More

My first visit to Scotland from Canada and I loved every minute! The staff and volunteers at this museum are SO very welcoming! The artifacts are amazing/tour guides were thoroughly passionate to share history. A 'must see' 5-star museum and deserving of the Cert of Excellence!

Having lived in Aberdeen off and on for many, many years my friend and I have never visited The Gordon Highlanders Museum. We decided we to change that and whilst we didn't have time for a tour this visit, we thought we'd check out the cafe vibe. We were pleasantly surprised - coffee and scones were spot on and the...
