Fantastic! BSS are experts in the life and behaviour of basking sharks in the Hebrides. They deliver a comprehensive package to allow all comers to get the best out of their tours. Boats are powerful, state of the art rhibs with covered cabin, toilet and plenty of room aft for kit and passengers. They hire any kit necessary; wetsuits, fins, masks, snorkels and GoPro cameras. The guide is a marine biologist who briefs fully on all sea life encountered. The 4 day trip ranged around the Inner Hebrides in search of the elusive sharks and took us from Coll to Fingal’s Cave, Mull, Iona and Tiree. Sightings included sea eagles, a friendly seal, porpoises, minke whales and many, many dolphins. Only 1 basking shark on the final day but, hey, it’s their ocean and they are wild animals. Sun, sea and snorkelling were as good as it gets. Basking Shark Scotland are not your average tourist sightseeing boat trip. They work from a scientific basis to deliver their passion for the life in our oceans. And do it well.

We had a fantastic time. While we didn't see any basking sharks, we did some exciting snorkeling including seals and great kelp forests. On the boat we spotted a lot of dolphins, minke whales and a garnet feeding frenzy. The guides where really nice, knowledgeable and passionate about marine life. We would really recommend the tour and we will be back next year.

A superbly organised and delivered 4 day marine wildlife safari. The team of Rachel, Shane, & Jack were experts in their fields and really enthusiastic and capable communicators. All aspects of the trip from H&S through to timing and logistics matched the expertise and delivery of the team.

September 2021 - my wife and I went on the one day lagoon and seal trip picking up in Oban and Tobermory. As inexperienced snorkellers we were a little apprehensive about the swimming but this is very well organised and the lagoon is not a challenging swim and the kit hired is excellent. The two guides from Basking Shark were superb and highly knowledgeable marine biologists and also very engaging and attentive hosts.they could not be faulted.thwre were logistical issues that I feel I must mention and also a lowering of expectations.firstly the couple pivked up at tobermory had been told the trip only picked up at tobermory so had paid for the car ferry .secondly the actual time snorkelling was only about 50 minutes.it took a long time for the ten people to get changed and it may be that the tides meant less time in the water. Many of the other passengers were experienced divers and they were quite disappointed and I would say even bored with what they saw swimming. There were seals but only one or two so you are not swimming with seals - you are being watched by seals. I did spot two dolphins on the way out but no wildlife of note on way back. Naturally the unpredictable nature of wildlife means nothing is certain and the scenery is beautiful. The itinary states three hours at the lagoon but that is no ot in the water and that I think is very misleading. In summary the guides are superb, the boat is super safe and super fast and cool , the lagoon is great but the time in the water at 50 minutes is poor. The trip also over ran by about two hours so people were late back. A great company with strong preservation ethics and I enjoyed the day but please get the logistics and trip description sorted. I would also say experienced swimmers and divers need to lower their expectations. I would still recommend them .

Went on the 4 day Basking Shark Tour, and each day was better than the last! We were lucky enough to see a basking shark on the last day - after some superb spotting by our guide Jack. Saw so much in terms of wildlife - seals, minke whales, dolphins and sea birds galore. An excellent run tour with a very knowledgeable guide - Jack - we loved all his facts and enthusiasm for sea birds! And also a special mention to our skipper Cam who was also very knowledgeable and friendly. Cant recommend Basking Shark Scotland enough and we will definitely be back again for another trip!
