In summary learn all about jute manufacture from start to finished products. So whilst this may not sound particularly interesting I have nothing but praise for this fascinating place made even more memorable by the amazing volunteers who take you through this restored mills' history. Lots of interesting and interactive exhibits to keep adults and children alike entertained. Has a... More

My wife suggested that we broke our journey to Aberdeenshire by stopping here. I wasn't best pleased in fairness. I wasn't looking forward to it at all. But she wanted to go so that's all the mattered. How wrong I was. I loved every second of it. It's a shame I'm not local, as I'd be taking advantage of their... More

I went here for a day out with my partner and really enjoyed the experience! The was so much I didn't know about the old Mills in Dundee. We got talking to a lovely woman who works there (can't remember her name) but she was lovely and very helpful and it was really interesting to hear about how she use... More

If you have ever wondered where your reusable shopping bag came from then the place that I am about to review is the place for you, and that place is the Verdant Works located on West Henderson's Wynd where I visited with my friend that lives in Dundee yesterday, we had a little bit of a magical mystery tour to... We enjoyed an afternoon at Verdant Works. It is a really interesting place giving information on the history of Dundee's jute mills in a engaging manner. Staff were very welcoming and informative, the gift shop goods were reasonably priced and drinks and cakes were lovely. Suits all ages except very small children.

This is a great way to spend a few hours if you are visiting Dundee. Lots of machinery, much of it locally designed and built, and much of it still operational. There are also plenty of social and cultural artifacts to browse within the spacious exhibit areas. Nice cafe too. The staff were really enthusiastic...particularly Lily who brought the exhibits... The prosperity of Dundee was built on the Jute industry and the Verdant Works exhibition captures this in a highly accessible way. It is ideal for individuals, families and school visits. The on-site Cafe is clean and friendly and good to visit halfway through the tour.

I have no particular interest in jute but I decided to take my student offspring to check this museum out on one of my visits to Dundee as it was only a few minutes walk from the student accommodation. Interesting, well laid out, plenty for jute enthusiasts (yes, there appeared to be quite a few), and enough for those of... More

The Verdant Works may be a little tucked away, but it is well worth seeking it out and spending a couple of hours here - it is genuinely fascinating and so well run. Tracing the history of one of the 'J's' Dundee is so famous for (Jam, Jute and Journalism), this museum is set in an old Jute works. It... More
