The tour was amazing! We had Greg as our guide. He was fantastic, very enthusiatic, informative and helpful not only about the tour but also answer all our questions (even for beers and pubs). Actually he was a real storyteller with a lot of theatrical show! We see a general point of view of the city and learn stories about... More

My family has done Sandeman's before and knew what to expect. Well we weren't disappointed in this one as well!!. We reached Starbucks 15 minutes early to be greeted and were given a ticket each. There was full crowd that was promptly divided in to two groups - our guide was Richard - a Scott with pony tail, full trench... More

Just been on this with friends and Neale was our guide. He was so lovely and excellent at delivering his knowledge about Edinburgh. This guide is a must if you are a tourist and want to know more about your surroundings.😃

I stumbled on this tour by accident as I had been aiming for another tour which I had just missed. Having not looked at any reviews I must admit I was only going for the other one because the sign wasn't bigger. So easily swayed...! The guides at the stand were there in plenty of time and really helpful advising... More

This was my first walking tour ever - an amazing experience and the best way to start my city break. I learned lots of fun, interesting facts about the famous Old Town. Our guide, Sabela knew her stuff and told stories of Edinburgh in a funny and entertaining manner. Totally recommend.

Several well spent hours w/a large group walking through Edinburgh. Our guide Gregory really knew his city and was both engaging and educational. This was time very well spent on our part, and would highly recommend this tour to anyone as an intro to this great city.

So we did all three tours in one day. The free walking tour was absolutely great! We had Fiona. She was phenomenal. I seriously hung off of her every word. She threw some history at us, gave us a great shot of the castle, and integrated the other tours into her tour as well. I thought she was the best... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
