Highly recommend - breathtaking views of Edinburgh, steeped in history. Built on volcanic rock, a guided tour is informative and highly recommended.

If you like castles and history, you will love Edinburgh castle. We used the audio tour which was very informative. Even with a light drizzle/rain it was an attraction I thoroughly enjoyed.

Preserved castle, panoramic views of the city, prison, small museums all inside. Guided tour which we did not take since started 45 minutes after we arrived. Be sure to be in the entrance area for 1pm cannon shot daily. Didn't see it but sure heard...More

Had a great time wandering around the castle. Staff are more than willing to help get you to the top in a service car, if, like me, you are disabled. Loved the history.

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the

the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the

We are taking 12 day British Isles cruse with Caribbean Princess. Can anyone remember the ports, where there were Ship's shuttles provided to the center of the cities? However strange it may seems, I called Princess and they said NO, but in our prior experience there were many ports where they did have shuttles, some were free, some at cost, depending on the distances.

This is a long shot.. looking to get in touch with anyone who visited Edinburgh Castle on the 23rd September 2016 who took pictures and attended the 1 o'clock gun. My fiancé proposed to me and we were wandering if someone managed to get a picture of our proposal?!

I think adult fee is about £16 but if you are intending to visit other historical places on your visit it might be worth looking at maybe an explorer pass for £32 and that allows you to visit dozens of tourist attractions... More
