My friends and I went on this tour with a group from our hostel. We were extremely tired from a long so we weren't sure about the tour but sebella, our tour guide, was so informative and enthusiastic we didn't even notice the walking or the time passing by! We learned so much about Scottish history and loved it! Highly... More

Sabela picked us up in the Castle Rock Hostel and she was strolling through the City Center telling us the awesome Edinburgh's stories for around 1'40 min. Absolutely worth, the city takes a thriller environment at night so that you could imagine yourself in times of King James VI with Sabela's explanations, moreover it was very funny and completely free... Sabela was enthusiastic and a fantastic tour guide. Her passion was infectious... who knew I'd have such a blast listening to gruesome stories for an evening!

Sabela was a great tour guide and was very cute. Some cool stories about old town Edinburgh and how the people of the city used to live.

This tour was fantastic and our guide Cassandra was just awesome! Really interesting facts and history and visited a bunch of different sites. It wasn’t too much walking so would be fairly manageable for people who take longer or have a hard time walking. The underground vaults were fairly scary. Would absolutely recommend this tour!!! Only improvement would be to... More

the history of the old city is very interesting. Just knowing that they built a city on top of another is a story in itself and to walk among the dark corridors with tales of ghosts is kind of chilling.if you don't go on at least one of these ghost tours then you haven't seen the real Edinburgh give it... Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
