We are Edinburgh's only City Farm located in Gorgie, near Tynecastle. We have large and small livestock including cows, pigs, goats & chickens, and rabbits, guinea pigs, tortoises & a snake and are open to the public for FREE - 7 days a week, with donations appreciated and relied upon to help look after the animals and support the 130+ youth and vulnerable adults who work on the farm every week. We now only have disabled parking so would encourage you to come by bus or lift share if practical as local parking is limited. We offer volunteering opportunities and children's activities including parties. Check out our website for information or get in touch!

Great fun outing

Regularly visit with our 1 year old grandson and he loves this place. Great fun with close access to some of the animals. No entrance charge but donations are welcomed.

Good place to see animals that you wouldn't get to see in a city. Is very small though. And some of the animals don't have a lot of space which isn't nice to see. Was fun seeing the bunch of guinea pigs though

Our 6 year old girl loved it, she had lots of fun with the goats and pigs, stroking them and talking to them. Our 9 year old was not so impressed. However, as it is free, and relies on donations it's worth a visit if you want a break from the city.

Great family day out to get up and close with the animals. Great way to teach the kids about nature and you really get up and close to the animals. They also do bunny boarding if you want to go on holiday. Is mostly run by volunteers and rely on public money for funds. It's a hidden gem in the... More

Gorgie farm is a wonderful place to visit with young kids who are too young to handle the bigger attractions like the zoo and safari park. The farm is a working farm run by tremendous volunteers, variety of animals which is great to see and a lovely park. It's a lovely place to visit which is free, I would suggest... More

I visited Gorgie City Farm yesterday with my two grandchildren, NEVER AGAIN!!!. What I saw was truly SHOCKING and really raises question marks about even if the farm should be open. I will be passing my photographs onto the press as a picture tells a thousand words. To fully explain: All the animals were living in filthy dirty and substandard... More

I didn't even know it existed until recently as it just blends in with the city, but we had a fantastic time feeding the sheep and baby goats, it's therapeutic how adorable they are. There were a number of baby piglets born on the 1st of July too. It's not much, but it's great for being free and I'd definitely... More

Gorgie city farm provides a much needed educational experience for children involving animals and farming. It has been show that animals can help children communicate better and used as therapy, especially with autistic children, so to have something like this in the middle of the city is an asset we cannot loose!! Especially love the goat mountain, who doesn't love... More

Best city farm I've visited. A birthday trip for my grandson. Really well laid out with lots of farm animals to see - goats ,chickens, geese, piglets and so much more. There's a brilliant toddler play area, picnic tables and refreshments too. The farm is on a busy bus route and only a10- 15 minute walk from Haymarket station. We ran out... More

A nice afternoon out. Plenty of animals to see. Around an hour to look around. There is also a play park but this is definitely aimed at under 5s. My children are 3 and 4 so it was perfect for us. We parked in a nearby street which was free at weekends. We had a lovely afternoon.
