When we arrived, we were told that seating was full and that it would be about a 45-minute wait. We decided to tough it out since our friends had recommended the place. Sadly, the host didn't take our names, but we remained visible so that...More

We had good food here, both pies, and it's in a good location. I wouldn't rave about it, but I do recommend it. Make sure you look both ways when you walk in the door though - there are two different sections, the bar side...More

Went there with my wife and 8 year old to grab a drink after visiting the grave of Greyfriars Bobby. We were told we could not get a drink unless we ordered food. We said “OK we’ll get a bowl of chips”. The reply was...More

Visited Easter Sunday, short wait for table, disappointed that the Roast Beef had sold out but the fish & chips were excellent (although they could have been more generous with the mushy peas). Great service on a busy afternoon - would definitely return.

This was a must see for us because we are absolute dog lovers and love the story of Bobby. We went to his grave and had a little cry, saw the statue (please stop touching his nose as it is wearing off) and then had...More

Firstly, this was the weekend of Hogmany so there is certainly a larger number of people present there than normal (even for a tourist city) We arrived at 4.30pm and managed to get a table - thereafter it was a 40 minute wait. Approximately 12-14...More

Stopped by for a pint, the food smelt that nice we ate here the next night. Good selection of dishes to choose from and couldn't find fault with the taste or quality of their produce. Would certainly recommend this place as it's slightly off the...More

Lovely, excellent, home made food. Staff really great. About to undergo a major redevelopment (so check the venue is open) the food is delicious. I'd normally recommend booking. The bar is small, if you want a drink, but tables are numerous. Great staff and amazing...More

Great little pub in a nice location. Friendly service. Would have given 5 stars, however our table was not cleaned following the prior customers.

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the
