We went not really realising that this was a theatrical attraction. However we had a great time, the actors were amazing and had good humour throughout. Quite scary in places!

I think this place is good value for money. A bit of history, a bit of razzle dazzle, even some rides... The immersive-style actors they have throughout the tour are great fun and a good laugh. It lasts about an hour and a half or so. Well-executed. Excuse the pun.

Booked tickets online which worked out very expensive. Not work the 54 pound paid. The whole experience was boring for the first half anyway. There was a boat trip which went nowhere. The actors werent scary at all. The only good thing about the whole experince was the ride at the end. There seemed to be no story at all... More

Hi Catriona, Sorry to hear you were disappointed with your experience. Our tour is designed to be a bit of scary fun with history (minus the boring bits) thrown in. However, we realise we're not for everyone. Hope you had a grand day out in Edinburgh. More

This was a spur of the moment visit without any pre planning. Was a little more haunted house feel than thought. Wouldn't take young kids quite scary.

We are local to Edinburgh but seldom venture into town. As a treat for my boys birthday, I booked tickets in advance using my Tesco clubcard vouchers, which was just as well as entry fees are quite high. It would have been around £85 for us to just rock up to the place (a bit cheaper to book online) but... More

Tesco is a good way to go, although if you had booked online it would have been over 25% cheaper for you than on the door. However, you are obviously an extremely clever and attractive peasant for finding the cheapest way in! Too bad the way out was via the Drop Ride to Doom. Come back soon! ;) More

We pre booked this, and the prices are reasonable and available on line to avoid cues. The staff were extremely friendly and the characters they played throughout were well done in the main, they do ask about any injuries and are conscious of conditions anyone may have. A good laugh and a great way to spend an hour or so,... More

Yes indeed, book online and you cut the queues and save over 25%! Our actors do get into character rather well. Too well sometimes. Now where did that cannibal go with my left hand ... ;) Thanks for the ace review! More

Booked the night before for a tour that started at 2pm! Got there early and after the photos we had a little wait for others to show up but we didn't mind. Had a great time from start to finish the staff were great at involving you in the what was taking place would recommend.

Scared us silly! Actors were amusing and stories interesting. Lots of time spent in complete darkness, not for those afraid of the dark.

You were silly already, weren't you? Thanks for your horribly good review - we love that you had a laugh! Come back soon and get to know Burke & Hare a bit more. I heard them say they'd kill for a body like yours... ;) More

This is the most amazing thing to do if you are visiting Edinburgh. Me and my fiancé loved going through the dungeon and it was a really good laugh but also very scary at the same time! If I was going to Edinburgh again I would definitely go to the dungeons again. Definitely recommend this place!

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighbourhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
