I was very lucky on a Monday evening, a world class big band "The Jazz bar’s 17-piece big Band" was playing in this friendly jazz bar. The ticket price was surprisingly low, only 5 pounds per person, for an excellent concert.

I went to the Tuesday jam night. The musicians that got up to play were good. However I was left appalled by the rude and arrogant man running the event. After reading on the website that basically anyone and everyone (that can actually play) was...More

Every time I'm in Edinburgh, my wife and I make a point of visiting the Jazz Bar. It's an authentic jazz experience, and adheres to the ethos and spirit of jazz as open, accepting and appreciative. We've seen some incredibly talented musicians, and performances I'll...More

Went to the jazz bar in Chambers Street tonight for the 7:00 pm show and whist it was OK the artist was a little informal and when he sang and played he was good. A quick cameo from his friend was also entertaining. So as...More

Edinburgh is a great city - the Jazz Bar is a great addition to it. The Jazz Bar is contemporary and timeless. The basement location is perfect - gives a sense of being transported to jazz bar nirvana. I saw The Pause. A very impressive...More

I visited The Jazz Bar in August and watched a Stevie Wonder tribute band who were amazing!! We had to nip next door, pay for tickets online then print them off as they would not let us pay on the door, not sure why. It...More

Stumbled across this place by accident while ambling around. Really interesting venue. Watched a couple of guitarists (wouldn't really have called it 'Jazz') but they were excellent players (although maybe not singers?). Bar spotless and well attended. Place itself was a little smelly with the...More

Very small venue, get there early to get a table. Wonderful music, we shared a table with a local that goes there several times a week. Definitely not a tourist trap! One of my most enjoyable memories of Edinburgh. Drinks, no food and watch the...More

Small basement bar. Musicians were fabulous. The music mix, the voices and musical ability were great. I don't even know who they were, two different men. Both were excellent in their own ways. Really enjoyed it and sad that I won't be able to come...More

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its

this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the
