I was a little worried about visiting Edinburgh during winter, likewise a trip to the highlands. Big Aaron the tour guide was entertaining, knowledgeable and involved the whole family in discussions, and the beautiful highlands of Scotland turned it on for the day. Wow, what a beautiful country!

Our family tour (4 people) was amazing with stops to see Highland cattle and deers (off the original itinerary I suppose) along with the Glencoe and Loch Lubnaig and Ness. Our guide (the fantastic Franziska!) was so pretty kind and had a lot of attention with everybody needs...thanks a lot Fran!

Excellent tour with excellent guide. Guide's name is Aaron M. He made everyone feel comfortable and had a wealth of information about the areas we visited. It was a low stress, thought-out trip. Aaron made trip very enjoyable and I had fun. I recommend this tour, and Aaron the guide, to those who wish a meaningful trip to Loch Ness,... More

Loved Rabbies tour of the highlands and Loch Ness. Super tour with Jude, plenty of great photo stops, informative stories and laughs along the way! Glad I was there for the debut sound track when approaching Loch Ness, I hope it lives on... Thanks for a sweet day!

Outstanding tour. Comfortable small group mini-bus with comfortable accommodation. Knowledgeable and personable guide "Nick Macaddin" made every moment enjoyable, full of interesting stories and information of the history, folklore and geography of Scotland. Would definitely tour with Rabbie's again and would definitely ask for Nick again.

My daughter and I booked a tour for St. Andrews. We enjoyed it a lot because the city was lovely. We had three hours, which is enough time to explore it. We also stopped by a fishing town for 30 minutes. Here we visited a museum about fishing. This museum was well curated and we were very happy to be... More

Hi Jude, Thanks for your feedback. We're so glad you enjoyed the tour with Eric and Grant. We work very hard to make sure that everyone gets enough time, but sadly due to logistics this may not always work out. However, this will be passed onto our operations team. All the best, Marisha More

We just returned from a 2 day tour with the incredible Roger as our tour guide. We couldn't have asked for a better guide and enjoyed every moment. Definitely put this one on your list if you are in Scotland!

We have just returned from the 1day Loch Ness tour and it was wonderful. Our driver/guide/stand up comedian Grant was fantastic from the moment we boarded the bus for the next 12 hours. It was snowing about 1 hour into the trip and the scenery was simply stunning. (We had been on the Isle of Skye tour a few years... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
