Okay.. considering we just wanted to see Loch Ness

My partner and I had 2 days in Edinburgh, and I would say if Loch Ness wasn't such a famous and bucket list thing to see, I would have been disappointed I used one of the two days... read more

They came and picked us up fairly quick. The driver was very friendly and knew where he was going and what he was talking about. Strongly suggest them for tours.

The bus picked us up early in the morning in Edinburgh, and the bus driver started talking (in a very Scottish accent by the way) and telling some poor jokes - it was quite funny at first, but after a little while we (my friends and I) started to feel a bit uncomfortable and tired of him. He did tell... More

It was horrible, the leaflet was completly fake, yes you visit those places but by bus, you just stop in two restaurants for half hour and thats it one stop is 2 minutes to take a picture with mountains If you hire the visit to see the castle and the cruise through the lonch is ok at least you will... We took this one day tour to Loch Ness, Glen Coe and the Highlands and it was well worth the price. We saw so much of the Scotland Countryside that we never expected to see. Our driver was great. He was funny and a very good story tell. We learned a lot of history about all the locations visited. And... More

The tour guide, Fred, was a charming and hilarious Scotsman, and he truly added to the beauty of the Scottish Highlands and Loch Ness with his personal anecdotes and knowledge of the lands. The beauty of the Scottish wilderness cannot be understated.

Being in off season, this tour is a must when visiting Edinburgh and Scotland. Our guide Fred arrived on time and collected us from the Royal Mile office and navigated our small group from Edinburgh all the way through the Highlands to the Loch Ness and back on time. We had the pick of the weather as it was clear... More

The day trip to the Highlands was influenced heavily by the guide's permanent telling of poor jokes from the very beginning, and the lack of enthusiasm from his audience did not deter him. Opinionated commentary when passing Jimmy Saville's cottage was not appreciated, particularly with children on board. Very limited photo opportunities, only one stop was made. The coffee and... Me and my wife took a day tour of Loch Ness on a rainy day in December. Our guide Ian was very informative and shared a lot of details, in true Scottish manner and humor. Unfortunately the weather turned bad and we could not enjoy the sights as such, but Ian's conversations and choice of music saved the day. Please... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
