Great day out

Excellent tour of the wheel, fantastic views over the valley. Round it off with coffee or lunch in the cafe.

Expensive but fun boat trip on canal connecting wheel. Female guide was witty and fun. Pizza stand and kids playground were also very good!

Visited the Wheel while staying with family in Falkirk. It is a marvellous piece of engineering but the cafe is mediocre and needs more effort from the proprietors. There's several other features for children at the location

I and a group of friends visited the Kelpies and the Falkirk Wheel as a "package". The Wheel is incredible - a one off. The engineering is superb and very impressive. The principle is simple and its execution amazing. The trip on the boat is well worth the cost, as the views are magnificent.

Always a pleasant walk, clean and well maintenaned. Coffee at the visitor centre and the wheelhouse are great addition.

Constructed as part of the millenium celebrations, this is a remarkable feat of engineering that links the two parts of the Forth & Clyde Canal where they meet at rather different heights near Falkirk - it replaces a series of locks. You can get a ride on a narrowboat on the wheel and briefly along the canal; there is a... More

We visited the wheel on a grey day and if you want to ride at a specific time it's a good idea to book in advance. The cafe is a great space to sit and watch the wheel and the boat ride is informative. Try to sit as close to the front as you can if you want good views... More

Visited the Falkirk Wheel today. Tour guide Shaun was entertaining and informative. Was a real treat to sit on this miracle of engineering and observe the mechanics and the wonderful scenery. Also had a visit to the tea room who did a great coffee and cake and the gift shop offered many well priced gifts and souvenirs. Very helpful and... More

You cannot say bad things about this amazing piece of engineering, because this is a huge engineering solution, it just incredible. But, as a touristic attraction it is boring, it is almost 1 hour slow, very slow trip and just about 200-300m distance through the canal. The boat goes at something as fast as 5km/h top speed and nothing to... More

An amazing piece of engineering that has to be seen. I have not had a chance to experience being on it but just watching the boats is an amazing site. Nice flat walks around the canals as well.
