What a treasure trove tucked away just off the main shopping area. I found pictures from my schooldays and some of properties owned by my grandparents. The place is absolutely crammed full of Grangemough atrefacts and anyone wanting to know about the history of Grangemough would do well to visit. And all for a donation! I was pressed for time but will return and spend more time going through the exhibits on another day.

The trust holds a vast collection of photographs of Grangemouth from the past, including school photo's, past industries, old buildings and many, many more. It also has a large collection of artefacts from day's gone by which stirs old memories. One of the highlights of the visit was seeing the scale model of Grangemouth's Central Scotland Airport, which was used as a pilot training airfield during the second World War, only 2 hangers remain now used as storage units. The staff, all volunteers were very informative and helpful. Well worth a visit but be prepared to over stay your planned time.

I visited Grangemouth from a family history aspect, and was disappointed to find out that the archives were now in Falkirk, and the museum had closed. However, the library staff directed me to this excellent exhibition of Grangemouth's history tucked away behind the main street in a fairly small building. The building contains a huge display of photographs from many different periods of Grangemouth's history, including local groups, schools, industry and buildings, and includes a model of the former airport nearby. There's many artefacts in display cases, particularly good on the two world wars, and reference books and informative folders to assist your study. The volunteer staff are very welcoming, and Maureen in particular is a great source of knowledge and guidance. There's so much to see that you have to devote some time to your visit, but if you want to know more about Grangemouth and the local area, this is the place to go.

Lots of things to be seen there. Too many for just one visit. One can't take in everything but it's very very interesting and impressive what people have done to show the past of Grangemouth. Absolutely worth a visit!
Think more people should be aware of what they have here. The trust could do with bigger facilities but I also know money is short everywhere so I assume it will be in its place for more time to come.

This is a small gem of a museum, almost hidden behind the Public Library on the south side of the A 904 in the town centre.
It has an absolute wealth of treasures, including a fascinating model of the war-time airfield. We could have spent hours just looking at this model, but there are so many photographs and items of memorabilia, including WW2 military uniforms which they allow school age children to try on.
For us it was a walk down memory lane, which passed much too quickly.
Entrance is free, and although there is a small donations box, all that was asked of us was to sign their Visitors Book.
If you have any interest in Grangemouth, this is a MUST VISIT location.

I found this almost by accident but glad I spotted the small sign. This place is packed with items of historical interest and then some. Two very knowledgeable members of staff took us on a tour of some of the items on display and gave us a potted history of all things local...and not so local. They are dedicated people who even offered us a cup of tea, but time was against us. It really is packed to the gunnels but the vast range of interesting memorabilia means that it would require a lot longer to look around. A fascinating snapshot of history and well worth checking out for an hour or so. They did not ask for a donation but did ask us to sign the visitors book, which we did and thereby no doubt adding our names to the history of Grangemouth. Spotted a small donations tin on the way out and gladly dropped in a few quid to help with the upkeep. Clearly in desperate need of funds. This is the type of organisation that the Lottery should voluntarily help really. Go and have a looka round and for a chat with two very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful people.

I just love this place! If you're a Portonian you need to pay a visit. You'll always find something different to ooh and ahh at! And the volunteers are so helpful. I could spend a whole day there (if it was open all day!!!) Just brilliant.
