We did not pay to go inside, but were able to see most of it from the road. Pretty cool ruins just down the street from the Old Course. Worth the walk up the hill.

We had an enjoyable visit to the Castle a short while ago. They have a short historic tour through the history of the castle which doesn't delve too deeply into the detail but remains an interesting introduction to the place. The castle grounds are OK, plenty wee nooks and crannies to explore but the definite highlight (providing you can handle... More

If you like castle ruins, this is a good stop for you. We saw lots of castles in various states while in Scotland and St. Andrews was one of the better ones (although Stirling and Linlithgow were my favorites). It doesn't take long to see the whole thing, you can do the Cathedral and the Castle in one day with... More

What an intriguing and atmospheric castle!! There was so much to see here - the introductory walk through presentation gives you lots of information and context for what you see in the actual castle. There is lots of information dotted around to give an idea what the castle would have looked like and been used for in the past. My... More

Lovely spot, family-friendly, great views of the coast. Skippable museum unless you have children. If you plan on visiting other castles around scotland (Stirling or Edinburgh, i.e.), get the castle pass here, as it saves you a TON of money.

We visited on a foggy Saturday, and we are so happy that we did! The fog only added to the atmosphere. Take the time to walk everything and enjoy the views.

These castle ruins are near the famous golf course, and has quite a tumultuous history, The "hole" used for a jail cell is rather shocking, when one realizes that political prisoners and those with opposing theological views were kept or killed in this small, impossible to escape, compartment. A few kings lived at the castle for a portion of their... More

I particularly enjoy ruins so I thought this was a nice castle to visit. I liked learning about some of the history before going outside to the castle. Once outside, it was fun to explore. As others have said, it's got great views of the water. Saw some neat birds. Did not do the tunnels because we were a bit... More

While in at Andrews we decided to visit the castle and cathedral ruins, although it free between Oct and march as this was the 5th march it cost £6 to get in which I found quite expensive to look at ruins although as it was a cold day may have effected my mood, I don't think the ruined castle is...
