If you think plastic bags woven into a wire frame (in a not very picturesque way) and scribbles on the windows, floors, and walls are worth stopping in to see, then do it. Otherwise, do yourself a favour and go to the Hunterian or Kelvingrove, where real artists reside. I've never been disgusted with an art gallery before, but this... More

Thanks for your review. I'm sorry that you've had such a strong reaction and felt disgusted at what was on display in one of the three galleries open on the day of your visit. Like all museums and galleries, not just modern and contemporary art ones, we acknowledge that the displays may not be to everyone's taste. Even if a... More

I didn't know what to expect from this as my only usual modern art visit is the Tate. This is obviously mush smaller but it is really well curated and interesting. There were some fab exhibitions, everything is well displayed and it's free. I'd recommend any visiter at least goes in for a look even if you think it isn't... More

I'm sceptical about a lot of modern art so this was not my thing. Neither liked the exhibits nor had any interest in trying to read those oh so deeper meanings or concepts. One good thing was that it sparse in exhibits although this alone may have held its own meaning. Who knows and who cares. The book shop is... More

It's free and in the centre of town. Okay to pass half an hour in. The art changes regularly so you can go a couple of times a year and still see something new. I prefer the modern art gallery in Edinburgh but apparently this attracts more visitors!

Modern art, as all art, is appreciated differently. While the exhibits were not to our taste, they were still thought provoking. The art of the building itself make it worth the visit - even if the exhibits may be not be appealing. The Glaswegians working in the galleries were lively and fun to speak with. We toured the full museum... More

GoMA is located just down the road from Queen Street Station and not far from Central. It's an iconic building in an iconic location. The spirit of the beautiful, vibrant and ultra-cool city of Glasgow oozes from every pore and every corner, but never more so than here. It's an unmissable place to visit, if only to see and photo... Situated in the very centre of Glasgow, GoMA is housed in a beautiful old building. The contrast of the modern exhibits against the columns and colonnades of the building is worth seeing on its own. The exhibitions change so what I saw may not be what you will experience. Take your time, suspend your disbelief and enjoy the experience without... More

Like many other visitors, I found it difficult to accept what I saw as art. The building is lovely but the artwork I saw was very challenging to accept. In my artistically uneducated opinion, clothes rails with old, creased clothes on could be assembled by anyone with a gift to describe their possible symbolism e.g. This long black coat hanging... Reading the reviews I agree with many of them. The gallery space is amazing. A beautiful building that hasn't been turned into a coffee shop or a retail outlet. But the exhibition was not to my taste and as a member of the normal public I needed some guidance to understand what the message was. I just couldn't link the... More
