Interesting

Fascinating insight into one of Scotland's notable stylists but also into the influence also of his even more stylish wife. Will return if they add extras

Excellently recreated, pity the university knocked down the original! Stunning design with very helpful guides. Pity the associated Mackintosh exhibits in the museum were closed (a leaking roof apparently). If you are interested In Mackintosh the Hill House at Helensburgh is well worth a visit.

I had never heard of Mackintosh until today, but now I am a fan. I wish the tour had been longer, as the rooms are beautiful and unique.

This was going to be the highlight of our city break (and the only exhibition for which we were going to pay admission). We had already seen the Willow Tearooms, Lighthouse with Mackintosh Tower and exhibition and Kelvingrove Gallery Mackintosh display. All of these were informative and free with well stocked shops. At the house we paid £5 each for... More

This gives a clear idea of a complete home designed and furnished by CRM (and his wife) would have looked like. It is a harmonious and peaceful set of interiors with beautiful pieces of furniture in dark wood. No photography is allowed which is a little disappointing.

A second visit after a number of years and once again you are struck by how radical the cool, fresh use of white paint must have been more than a hundred years ago. The reconstructed interior is beautifully preserved and you get a real sense of how Mr and Mrs Mackintosh complemented each other in the decoration of their home.

There are some fabulous free arts attractions in this locality, unfortunately this does not meet either of those criteria! There really isn't much to see but I suppose it needs the entrance fee to survive, and it would pass 15 minutes of heavy rain!

Access to this museum is gained from the Huntarian Museum. The house design and furniture design are clever and whimsical a good use of space. The brilliantly crafted furniture adapts well even to this day. Climbing the narrow stairs you can admire the craftsmanship in every detail from the knobs to the ceilings. This is a must see when in... More
