The medieval Glasgow Cathedral has been in constant use for worship for over 800 years, and is of great architectural and historic interest. Highlights include one of the finest post-war collections of stained glass windows in Britain, and the ceiling in the Blackadder Aisle which was built around 1500 by Archbishop Blackadder. Cared for by Historic Scotland and open to visitors throughout the year from 9.30am except Sundays when it is open at 1pm. Recitals and special family events are a regular feature. Closing times vary seasonally.

Love the architecture in this city. Great to walk around. Sunday service had just finished but they still allow visitors to mill about. Fantastic stain glass

It had been 15 or 16 years since I was last in Glasgow & had forgotten how wonderful the cathedral is. St Mungo's story is intriguing, and the cathedral itself has a dark, sombre fee, to it. Spend some time in the crypt below where...More

A bit away from the centre you find Glasgow's oldest parts with the cathedral as centerpiece. A very dark cathedral with beautiful glasswork, archways and a place of quiet and peace.

A lovely cathedral. Preferred this more than St. Giles Cathedral. The architecture, layout, statues, carving are simply wonderful and artistic. There is also the basement to explore more.

I went to the Glasgow Cathedral and was impressed with the visit and explored most of it. A very worthwhile visit as the area itself is very well laid out. A spiritual feeling as I went around. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Most old cathedrals were destroyed during the Reformation. This one survived and has served as a location to shoot scenes from Outlander. Worth a visit.
