The People's Palace and Winter Gardens, set in historic Glasgow Green, the oldest public space in the city, tells the story of Glasgow and its people from 1750 to the end of the 20th century. Adjacent to the People's Palace is the extravagant and recently restored Doulton Fountain, unveiled in 1888 to commemorate Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee.

It was a long walk to the Glasgow Green along River Clyde in the rain. I've now gone through 3 brellies in less than 24 hours. I was excited to finally arrive at the People's palace, and even more that the winter gardens were open. The plantation was lush, although I imagined the botanical gardens to be larger. A few... Great place to spend an hour catching up on Glasgow social history. Great cafe in the winter gardens. Gift shop needs to rethink merchandise though.

A chance to see old Glasgow carefully presrved. Coffee shop and greenhouses designed on upturned helm of Nelson's Victoria. Give yourself plenty of time. Opposite see 'Dodger's Palce' and notice the old drying greens.

Really interesting exhibits, especially the parts that explored capitalism, slavery, class and poverty, and how these helped broadly shape Glasgow.

The museum is really well kept and there are some lovely displays, the winter garden is lovely and it's nice to have lunch in it! It was really great to have a wander around when it's grey out and it's free entry :)
